Why my dad started drinking more? 2 people house problem

my dads been drinkin since he was 14 and he drinks like everyday but the thing is he supplys so muht o my family and works so much yet he finally missed work and he never does that he just didnt go and now hes been gettin drunk in the morning and night drinming alot more

he is 46

and hes had a stroke

he also smokes cigarettes like a pack a day

Well first off you can help your dad by not following his example.  Second you need to do something to stop your dad from drinking too much.  I'm kinda in the same position as you are but my dad hasn't had a stroke... yet.  You could try pouring out a little of his vodka or hiding it, but that might enrage him I know it did my dad.  Is there anyone else that can help you to stop your dad from smoking and drinking?

Alcoholics work, have relationships etc. but your dad has a stressor that has caused to start drinking more.

Hiding his alcohol will only make him angry or make him get more.

I would say a family intervention is best.

Unfortunately, he might have to hit rock bottom to do anything.

Your dad is probably stressed out from work or home.  He probably got stuff on his mind.  Try to talk to him and see what is bothering him.

Only your Dad knows why this is happening. You can only support him as best you can but your 1st priority is to take care of you.
