  1. Even though you truly think you have gained the trust between your two birds, it can easily be forgotten. Once parakeets truly trust you, they won't bite no matter what, but in some cases they will, as in to tell you that they don't like it, whatever it is that you are doing. My parakeets don't like it when i have my hands rapped around them. So i taught them to make a cute little squeaky sound when they don't like, and i would release them. Try and teach your birds to communicate differently with you and try and learn their body language, it will come in handy.

  2. Are they pared? Sometimes, they just don't want to be bothered. My Cockatiels will act like that sometimes, when they don't want me to bother them. The reason the younger ones don't is because they haven't developed that attachment yet. Hope this helps.

  3. if you talk to them like you type they are probably confused.

  4. well every body know that you need to make your parakeet trust you like gives them some cracker and play with them and whistles be more clese to your parakeet

  5. theyre not used to you. they hav to get used to you. sit in front of thier cage with the cage door open, and talk calmly to them. let them get used to your voice. DON"T TRY TO PET THEM. especially now. let them gain your tust first.

  6. My experience with birds has been, if the birds are not hand raised they will be more defensive than hand raised birds. If they are paired they will not be friendly with you. Sorry that's just the way it is. You can make them SLIGHTLY more friendly by offering them treats in your hand. The main thing is handling them when they are young.

When they see a hand moving towards them they are frightened because to them our hands look like snakes, which are predators to them.

  7. Hey Mrs. John, how are ya'? The article below will get you started on biting problems. It's written for cockatiels but applies to all pet birds, Reading it will help you gain some useful insight into your problem. I don't get bit that much any longer but I did for a long time. You have to work with the birds a lot, to get beyond that.
