Why nadal should win cincy to take the #1 spot?

Question

i'm confused with the ranking system. nadal and federer margin is about 300 points. with federer losing in the 3rd, it makes him lose 465 points. it should already close the gap. because nadal cannot advance in cincinnati in 2nd round last year, any achievement wouldn't lose his points.

why he should win cincy to take the #1 spot? nadal should have surpassed federer by now right? pls explain. tq :)

Nadal is already unofficially world number 1. Fed's points will take a huge drop after the olympics. Losing to Simon was when he lost his world number 1 title, because even had Federer defended his Cincinnati title it wouldn't have been enough to stop Nadal from becoming number 1 once Federer lost those 300 points from losing Toronto. It was just a matter of time.

due to olympic schedules, the points earned by fed during the last rogers and this week's cincy will still work on his favor (it will not be deducted at this moment) and all the points they earned at this tournaments will still be credited to them. in this regards, nadal needs to win the cincy to ensure that he will take the number 1 ranking earlier. if this will not happen (hopefully it will for him to take the number 1 spot earlier), he will take the number 1 ranking i think on aug. 18 (where fed will lose 850 points for not defending his cincy title and for losing at the 2nd round of toronto wherein he was a runner up last year),. this is only my openion based on what i am have i read. i want also NADAL to take the number 1 ranking ASAP.  Vamor RAFA.

in the atp ranking they used a ranking system that keep the pionts of every tournament for 52 weeks regardless when this tournament is going to be played next year as in this year some tournaments r played earlier than last year like Canada & Cincy so u will find in the points profile each player there r 2 Canada tournaments

the points of the one of the last year will be removed at the same week it was played last year

Same for Cincy

actully the trail by fedder number 1 is bigger than that because of the small tourments he already won he just keeps on increasing his league

Nadal should not be #1 yet the amount of times Nadal has defeated Federer is minimal compared to Federers record.

as we all know by now federer has lost and all nadal has to do is get to the semi finals to be the #1.
