Why no Masters coverage until 4:00?

I'm watching the Golf Channel, and they have 2 people in a studio talking about today's action.

HOW ABOUT ACTUALLY SHOWING THE ACTION??????!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Didn't USA or TNT or somebody like that used to carry the early rounds all day? Who's responsible for this?

Probably to edit, so we're not stuck watching golfers walk the fairways. And so we don't have to watch JB Holmes take 79million practice swings.

I do remember that they did it all day.  CBS did it.  But that was the year that Hootie Johnson did not accept any commercials because the National Orginization of Women were threatening a boycott of any products advertized on the Masters.  

It is tradition to watch only the tail end of the leader board in the afternoon on weekends and some of that extends to the weekday shows.  They will make exceptions if Tiger or Michelle Wie or Annika are golfing a send a crew just to cover them to increase viewership.

It is the Chairman and the networks that decide when they air.

US Open and British and PGA have ample hours of coverage.
