Question:

Why no Olympic bronze medals?

Why is it that reaching the Olympic boxing semis guarantees the fighters a bronze medal, but in other sports, like taikwando, they have a third/fourth fight to decide? Surely it should be the same for ALL sports? Anyone know the answer?

  1. dont knw

  2. Boxing is a sport and taekwondo is a martial art,the scoring system is different and the rules are different. However i understand what you are saying though it doesnt make sence at all the scoring sytem for both of them was diabolical

  3. If a boxer gets defeated in the semi-final (or ever infact), he's not allowed to box again in that competition, therefore letting the winner get a bronze medal...

in TaeKwonDo it's different... they are allowed to fight it out between the possible bronze medalist.

Simply Different rules, hope that helped :D

    :)

  4. I though that!

The rules are different than In Twi Kwon Do

It is for safety reasons, so the numbers of matches is kept as low as possible, so not as many people are injured!

  5. don't have any idea...

will have to see taikwando to know its answer

  6. In boxing, if one of the semi-final losers is knocked out, he can't box  again for a certain time period as a safety precaution, and it wouldn't be fair to take away his chance at a bronze medal just because his semi-final opponent was so much better than the others,in all other cases the losing semifinalists both get a bronze in olympics and other games because there are no qualifying events before the main events .

    Hope this helps
