Why no color is changed when the potato is reacted with benedict`s solution?

  1. Because Benedict's solution is used to find glucose, while potato contains no glucose, it contains starch. To find starch, you need iodine.


  2. benedict`s solution  is used to detect reducing  sugars namely glucose ,fructose ,maltose ,lactose etc.

    When potato  reacts with Benedict's solution there is no colour change as it does not contain simple reducing sugars rather it contains complex carbohydrates.
