  1. Almost any politicians from this country I have heard are blaming Russia if anybody. I was watching CNN last night and the tag-line was "Russian Aggression."

As for the people blaming the US, those are just the same people that blame us for everything. Russia is also trying to blame us to antagonize us. It is becoming very evident that Russia hates the West, Western Influence and specifically the US and NATO.

Our leaders (like Bush, Rice, McCain and Obama) are all calling for Russia to stop and placing them in the wrong. Other than already anti-US sources, I have not seen anyone blame the US for this.

  2. It was Georgia's fault, they attacked South Ossetia and started all this. Russia is just defending itself by destroying all of Georgia's military installations.

Let's say if Mexico attacked the U.S.A., wouldn't we fight back also? And the answer is yes to that. We would cripple Mexico's military that way they can never do such a thing nor think of doing such a thing.

Thats exactly what Russia is doing to Georgia.

  3. It's funny you say that, because the US media is being entirely non-reflexive and all but calling for Russia's blood. It's as if they're entirely pissed that Russia's breaking away from the Western/US sphere of influence to start their own, but know its hard to impossible to corral Russia back in to ours. Our media's crying "imperialist, imperialist!" in every word but that, but neglecting that our actions in places like Latin America have often been similiar.

Also, no, it's not our fault Russia's going after its old sphere's of influence. State's hate losing territory, and Russia's acting in its own self interest to expand its base of power. Crass? Entirely! Sucky for people in ex-Sino-Soviet states? Mostly, yes! Can I really fault Russia? No, I'm sadly hard pressed if I discard morals and think geopolitics.

I guess I didn't answer your question other than that the US corporate media has a very different perspective. I suppose I need to listen to more PBS and BBC for a more international perspective.

  4. I think those with even the slightest bit of knowledge in history realize that this one is on Russia.  Its simply popular right now to blame the United States for anything that happens.

  5. Russia has Jus ad Bellum

  6. I think that most of the countries are blaming Russia. But few are concerned about the doom of the Ossetian people being killed in this war.

    Audiatur et altera pars!

  7. they know who the real aggressor is.

  8. Because international relations are extremely volatile right now, and the digital isolation of the "first world" may be blunting the heavy realization that one of these little moments going on around the world will be...the...One...that...blows...it...all... over, don't pass go, no more collecting anything at all, Time to start over from scratch...Indeed.

  9. Because Russia will beat us in a War thanks to Bush messing up our Economy in fighting the wrong Country! Oh well we should practice this before we lose!

  10. Not true! The European Union has quietly made its point known. Sarkhozy stepped up and negotiated the ceasefire.

  11. Are you really be that deaf - every western country and news report is blaming Russia for attacking Georgia - when it's been clearly stated time and again Georgia first invaded Ossetia to commit ethnic cleansing against Russian Ossetians.

  12. All Western media are slating Russia, when the fact of the matter is, Georgia's policy of the ethnic cleansing of Russian citizens living in South Ossetia started this episode.

Russia have agreed a cease fire through the EU and are currently working alongside the Georgian police force in restoring law and order to the region. I personally feel Russia has done the right thing in protecting its citizens.

People are rubbishing them based on the fact that they are our old enemys so they can do no good, which is an extremely short sighted view point :)

  13. No connection - do you think Georgia would've dared provoke Russia without the backing of US. It is US that trained and armed Georgia.

US wasn't blamed b/c it was connected. Rather it didn't take a central stage meaning American prestige. US wasn't center of attention.

Of course media didn't tell that when skirmishes started it was Russia that brought a resolution calling for both countries to cease hostilities. US refused. Russia called for peaceful solution, US ignored.

The US action simply is due to the fact Russia is no longer taking orders, not that they did. US wants to increase its influence and step over Russia. Russia in turn has shown enough is enough and Russia will protect its interests.

Fact is US has no influence over Russia or Europe. The strategy is same, paint your enemy as a monster. WAR MONGER, INNOCENT GEORGIA, COLD WAR, COLD WAR, COLD WAR, PUTIN MONSTER, COLD WAR, RUSSIAN IMPERIALISM, USSR, COLD WAR . . . . . oldest trick in the book. Iraq war was just few years ago.
