  1. Fabric softener can coat the fabric and ruin any absorbtion it may have provided.  Add 1 cup of white vinegar to the final rinse water and it will make the fabric a bit softer.

  2. ~~It must affect the faabric in some way. Use plain white vinegar in that load and not only will the uniforms look fresh and clean, but it keeps the clothes soft and no static cling. Just put in place of the softener in the comparment.~~

  3. Some fabric softeners, especially the dryer sheets, leave greasy marks on polyester.

  4. Polyester has certain chemical properties that other fabrics do not, I think the fabric softener takes away the original feel of the clothing.  Fabric softener also takes away the ability of fabrics to soak up liquid.

  5. Ive seen the same warning on high end towels and other linens I have purchased, as far as I can tell the warning are because the chemicals in the fabric softener can interact with the fabrics badly. I know when I accidentally used fabric softener on my husbands military gear it didnt wick like it was supposed to (pull the sweat away from the body. It may also be that the piece of clothing has been treated with something and that the fabric softener would strip it of that. :) Sorry I couldnt give you more info.

  6. Are the uniforms treated with a fire retardant?  If they are, that's the reason.  Fabric softener ruins the fire retarding abilities.  That's why you shouldn't put fabric softener on children's PJ's.
