  1. Volume off? :)

  2. That just happened to me tonight. Something happened to my main audio device which is Sigma Tel. I uninstalled it and then installed it again and it works fine. Before I uninstalled it I backed up its program, which contains the installer, to an external drive then I disconnected the drive. I did the uninstallation and sure enough the program was gone from Program files. I transferred the backed up program into my computer and ran the installer and now it works great. I guess you could do the same thing with a CD if you don't have an external drive.

  3. It's mad at you and doesn't want to talk. :-)

Check the speaker mute button in the lower right of the screen.

Make sure the volume control is up. Including the master volume and cd, applications, or whatever your trying to listen to. This is accomplished using the volume mixer.

Check the speakers to see that they are physically plugged into the speaker port, plugged into the wall, and turned on with the volume about half-way up.

  4. it might be on mute

  5. NO sound card fitted--no speakers---sound muted.--volume turned off or down etc etc.

  6. Could be as above - volume control

    (Start>Programs>Accessories>entertainm... control)

or it could be the speakers are turned down, turned off or plugged in the wrong port at the back. My computer has a couple of holes where the speakers can fit, and the one that has a picture of speakers on it doesn't work! It's another hole.

Or it could be your sound drivers - Start>Settings>Control panel

Click on system, then click the Hardware tab at the top. Then click device manager.  Are there any items with either a red cross or a yellow exclaimation mark? These devices would probably need new drivers.  You can download drivers from the manufacturer's website.

  7. check your speaker's are ON, Check the audio cables, check in the system is that volume icon is in mute

  8. Maybe its that brick stuck in the screen.

sorry.... check volume level (usualy at bottom right of screen), also check vol level in media player

External speakers?  check leads and connections

make sure your sound card drivers are there. Not sure?  download them from the soundcard makers website. Then reboot

Did someone alter the BIOS? yes? .....check sound settings.

  9. Make sure your Sound Driver isn't disabled, it may have inadvertently disabled itself during shutdown:

Go to Device Manager (Start> RightClick My Computer> Properties> Hardware Tab> Device Manager) and right click on your sound driver and choose enable. If not, try updating the driver, that will effectively restore it to factory settings if there's an update available.

If you don't know the name of you Sound Driver, so to Start> Run> dxdiag. Now go to the Sound Tab and any sound hardware installed is listed.

If that still doesn't work, the driver may have been uninstalled. If so, go to your computer's manufacturer's website and go to the "Support" section. There should be a link for drivers. You will need to know your computer's model, but once you enter that it will give you and option to download any missing drivers. Just find the Sound Driver and install it.

    Hope that helps =]

  10. get speakers that fit ???

  11. Hi,

It could be a number of things but to start with go into the control panel, sounds ans audio devices, and make sure that you have installed the driver software.

Make sure the speakers if separate are installed, if on board make sure the volume is turned up.

    Arnak

  12. Silly question but are the speakers on?? Sounds daft but I've done that before, turned them off by mistake then wondered  why there was no volume the next day.  Or maybe a lose connection in the back?

  13. check volume..and make sure your speakers are in correctly
