Question:

Why nobody goes at speed limit?

almost everyone i see is going at least 10 to 15 mph over the posted speed limit anytime, any road. The ones who go at limit are tailgated, shown high beam lights or even horned. If 1 million people in the county ignore speed limits and don't care about posted limit, how many tickets can a 3,000 cop police department possibly issue 24/7? Not much. Because that comes down to 1 cop for 330 speeders any given time.

So then the chance of getting ticket is 1 in 330? Which is something like less than 0.3%?

Is this why nobody cares about limit anymore? I've known people who speed recklessly all the time but never get ticket.

How to resolve this issue?

  1. look,,,,i got places to go,,,there may b some retired folks who have all day to get somewhere but most are busy and late...git out of our way!!

  2. The problem is, would your rather have a speed limit of 65 that is not really enforced too strictly, or a speed limit of 85 that is enforced to the T, and a driver going one mile over loses his liscence?

  3. Beacause unless driving conditions are poor or you are in a congested area or residential area speeding is not really dangerous. Going 85mph on the highway that has a 65 limit is not dangerous and really should not warrent a ticket. Look at Europe most of there highways are 80mph zones and in Germany they even have highways with out speed limits yet it is much safer to drive on those roads than America's roads. Why? Driver education is the problem in the US. Also its way to easy to get your drivers license.

  4. Because they can!

Resolve the issue? Don't sell cars that can go over the speed limit... Otherwise I'm afraid there's not issue. It's human.

  5. It seems like everyday there are news pieces about the deaths of people who drive too fast. And as I drive around I'm amazed at some of the crazy drivers that I see, talking on a cell phone, weaving from side to side, and chasing bicycles off the road.

Most times it is young people, feeling their oats, driving a very nice, or not too nice car way too fast.

    Vote.....and ask for steeper laws.

  6. most of the national speed limits were put in years ago. suspension,steering,braking,handling,tir... have all improved dramaticaly yet we are stuck at the old speed limits.
