  1. What the last answer said. The resistance across the air gap is nearly infinite until you get up to high enough voltages to cause arcing.


  2. Spark plugs are made that way to suppress electronic static which would interfere with radio equipment in your car

  3. The  reason for the resistance is the air gap.

    If there was no gap, there would be no spark. Then we could not call is a spark plug could we.
