Why not a bridge between India and srilanka? instead of sethu port?

The bridge built by srirama should be rebuilt between the two countries. Tamilnadu will get lot of revenue through tourists, traffic and cargo transfer to srilanka.The economy of both tamilnadu and srilnaka will boost.

Why dont the politicians give a thought?

that is a brilliant idea, it will surely give the tourism a big boost and also be good for indian-sri lankan relations. alhough india and sri lanka have a very good relationship already. it will also help create a lot of jobs on both sides.

I heard it is mainly for the passage of ships. It will save the ships coming to Indian coasts a lot of time and energy.

Sethusamudram project is for the ships to pass through, avoiding around 400 nautical miles of passage as of now.

A bridge over to Sri Lanka would become a hurdle . Water

underneath of such a bridge would become non-negotiable.

More over it would become a sumugglers' passage.

Due to political expediency and a pathetic problem of a 'secular amnesia' about heritage matters, it has got a controversial hue, which could have been avoided if some transparency was maintained and points of collective sensitivities and faith were not ignored. The project is fine, but the present route is not, as it involves destruction of a bridge believed to have been built by Lord Rama and Muslims and Christians believe it to be Adam's creation.
