Why not go with clean diesel fuel? It is the most viable available solution right now.?

First of all let us get down to the corruption of all of this hoax created by Al Gore which is nothing but a scheme to put the public in fear. This will stop all of the money going out to create bogus programs. Next, let is realize that hybrid automobiles mpg results have been overinflated by the corrupt EPA. Since they have been caught, now they are doing real world tests. Now, let us look at what Europe is doing with automobiles. CLEAN DIESEL. These clean diesels consume far less fuel than gasoline motors of the same size. They are getting quieter, no longer smoke, and are as fast as gasoline cars in some cases. Mrs. Speaker, I challenge you to drive one of these cars and you will be surprised. However, I think the public should decide on whether Global Warming is true or not. I do not want you and a hand full of others control our lives when we vote you in there to work for us.

  1. If you mean Clean Bio-Diesel - then I agree with you. If you mean ordinary petroleum based diesel - then the pollutant contents are same as Petrol or other fossil fuels.

  2. Let us first drop the politics, the global warming, and all the hype. Let us talk freedom. Diesel engines get way better fuel economy. I'm not "green" but I am "cheap" when it comes to my transportation and utility bills. I believe americans will never be free untill we can free ourselveles from the infrastructure that has been created to keep us under control. Plug-in electrics have already been developed and proven to be more than adequate for 90% of american drivers. Using diesel engines in cars is better than gas for many reasons...we will have a CHOICE on what type of fuel we want to use. A diesel engine will run on vegetable oil, biodiesel, used automatic transmission fluid, or any type of "bio-oil". The very first diesel engine was developed to run on pure peanut oil. There are so many anternatives. "They" just don't want us to have that choice. The most viable choice for us right now are diesel engines, not to "save the earth" but to save us americans MONEY!!! I want to be free from that invisible force of people running my life and deciding on their next plot to rip off and control american consumers. I believe if we as a collective would demand more for our money we might actually get more. Hopefully our children will be smarter and less greedy than our generation was and still is. Right now I fight my war against the big oil companies by purchasing as little as possible from them. Very soon people will realize we never needed them in the first place!!!! I'm looking at a plug-in electric with a diesel generator range extender (much like the Chevy Volt but with a diesel engine). I'll have to build this vehicle myself, but it will free me from the pump on a local level. I will be able to charge this car at home have a 200 mile range and with the range extender be able to travel up to 600+ miles on one fill-up. Gasoline engines are very inefficient. For every 100 units of fuel consumed you only get roughly 35 units of energy back. Sucks huh?!?! Electric motors are roughly 90% efficient...much better for my pocketbook!!!!! Electric motors do not need servicing like gas engines. Electric motors do not need air filters, oil, oil filters, spark plugs, or tune-ups. WOW!!! No mechanic bills either!!! Just educate yourself on the possbilities. You will be amazed at what is possible RIGHT NOW, not 20 years in the future. They are making us wait so we will buy the rest of the oil that is left to sell (trillions of dollars worth...I wonder who has something to gain from that?!) Be smart america!!! Educate yourself!!!!

  3. 1. The American consumer is afraid of diesel because of the negative image as polluters.

    2. Currently there are not many options for "bluetec" diesels. I think only a $60000 dollar Mercedes is available in 2007. This high price out ways the mileage gains for this car. Volkswagen will have lower priced options in 2008 models.

  4. First off, let me applaud you on your view of Al Gore too....glad to see I am not the only one who believes he is making a mountain out of a mole hill....  Secondly your MPG is not quite accurate.  The reason why the mpg rating by the EPA is "overinflated" is that the test they previously were using was out dated. The test was putting a car in a controlled environment at a constant 55 mph....does that accurately portray actual driving conditions? I dont think so...so yes it was outdated and has been modified to give more accurate ratings ..and the EPA is not corrupt...don't let a few people's misguidings stereotype the agency as a whole (i am an employee and not corrupt).  Clean diesel has that stigma and stereotype among americans.....regardless if it gives better gas mileage...my theory is that until something EXTREMELY drastic happens, we americans will still be in love with gasoline and will take a nation/worldwide catastrophy before we look beyond gasoline....IMHO

  5. EPA mileage restatements affected ALL vehicles, so that means your Excursion too, Joe Bob.  As far as Clean Diesel goes, it requires that you buy a whole new engine for your Super Duty F350 that you once carried a 2X4 in, so how many consumers will go for that without crying?  Not many, I suspect.  Finally, there is the energy security issue.  Last time I checked, any kind of non-Bio diesel fuel required that we continue to prop up corrupt Middle East dictatorships with money and soldiers in order to get "our" oil so we can make Clean Diesel.

  6. Deisal is not carbonneutral.   If you don't even know that much, how do you expect anyone to take you seriously?

  7. Honda is going to produce clean diesel cars in 2009.

  8. Global Warming in many ways is no different than the Next Ice Age of the '80s

The real problem is that as a WHOLE PEOPLE thru industrialization, greed, and lack of long-term thinking our of desire for low-cost & convenience has caused an IMBALANCE

"Mother Nature" is responding to that imbalance.... if you were walking and carrying a heavy plate and lost your balance... is it likely that the plate would tilt or slip and become uncontrolled

History should show us that Earth changes over time... in that past it used to take a long time for land to move, continents to shift, and the land/ocean footprint to change... now it is taking much less time and the changes are accelerated

and it is in that acceleration that I find alarm.. it really doesn't matter (for the sake of argument) if it is the "next Ice Age" of the 80s or the "Global Warming" of today.....  that is only a 20 year span.... it is the DRAMITC SHIFTS

no matter how much anyone tries to say it isn't the activities of humans... I have to argue... one person says.. well the problem in that animals put out to much carbon dioxide... my response: People are Animals..... and Deforestization means less large trees to filter and process the CO2 giving us back oxygen in return... it is concrete instead of grass (did you know that the average grass yard does more to cool the air than your air condition does in the same time frame?)... it is pesticide run-off in our water.. Earth can't absorb anymore of this...

Because we use Anti-Bacterial soap... there is now Dioxon showing up in our own body chemistries.... There was a solution prior to anti-bacterial soap... Isopropyl Alchol & it evaporated not causing Dioxin as a by-product

the Dioxin didn't exist as a result of anything but the use of anti-bacterial soap

So... even if you don't believe in Global Warming... do please believe in the problems that are created when "WE" as a populus determine to abuse our resources & not be good steward of the resources available to us

  9. Diesel cars are not in favor by the American public that is why.  If Americans will not buy them and Automakers cannot sell them, Automakers cannot afford to make them domestically.  Remember the diesels of the 1970s.. dirty, loud, noisy and costly maintenance.   Yes they have improved, in Europe, but the American public has a long memory.. That plus diesel fuel is not available everywhere..  you cannot pull into EVERY gas station to get it.

It is too bad too.. I do understand that the new generation of diesels is just as you say it is.. clean, efficient, quieter, and peppy.   Someday they will come to the US.   US automakers will take the technology that they have in Europe and sell it here.. US automakers have not shelved the idea.. they just do not think that most American carbuyers like the idea..

Would you like to take a $1-2 BILLION gamble on the idea?  Remember Chrysler.. it is being sold for $8 billion.. I saw an estimate recently that said GM was only worth $18 billion.  Therefore, a mistake could cost 10% or more of the value of an auto company and put it closer to bankruptcy..

  10. I agree.

This has just recently become an option as ULSD was just mandated in Nov 2006, and newer diesels manufactured recently must have stricter emissions standards and must have particulate traps on the exhaust.

High NOx levels are still of some concern because of the excess heat and pressures created by the high compression in diesel engines.

Also it's easier to use biofuels.  You don't need a "flex" anything!  I have 4 diesels, and I use biodiesel in all of them for 3 reasons:

1 - Reduces dependence on foreign oil

2 - Makes a diesel run better due to superior lubrication

3 - Whether global warming is true or not, I'm at least doing my part with out even doing anything different.

Good call pro-diesel.  Hopefully others will see the light.
