  1. what the h**l are you on about. if anything, the rainy season in britain is april or may. and most of winter. oh and summer.

to be honest its global warming and all that nonsense. nothing to do with them picking the wrong month.

considering wimbledons been going on a ****** long time, i think they know which month is best to do it.

  2. live in scotland, every season a rainy season, but that's britain for you , an island sticking into a large ocean, hence all the precipitation

  3. Lets see the weather for England all year round...

Cloudy, Rainy, and Snowy at times.

They thought about putting lights and the roof on but they thought it would take away from the atmosphere.

Face it, its kinda cool when it rains, we actually get to see doubles which I wish they would show more off to begin with.

  4. What Are you on about?

It's virtually always the raining season in England.

  5. I think it's more the case of tradition. As far as I'm aware Wimbledon has always been played starting the last week in June. Fair enough back then the weather would have been ok, now not so much. I don't think they would be willing to move it due to that tradition.

Plus the time when it doesn't rain and we get fairly decent weather in the country now is around late august, early september (I think) and it wouldn't be able to be moved around that time due to the US Open and, in the case of this year, the Olympics. The schedule is far too tight to move events around easily, take this week for example: 4 events are taking place and in Nadal's case he's had to pull out of the Mercedes Cup because he's just not physically ready to compete after just completing Wimbledon 2 days ago.

To sum it up, it's just not feasible to move events now there is so many other things to consider

  6. Erm...they play it in summer which is meant to be the least rainy season.

It rains here all year round so they can't possibly know when it won't rain.

The roof will be in place next year so no more rain delays on Center Court 8-))

  7. yh i agree french open was last month and olypic but iifnk they shoudl look in2 it more move it in2 august olypic games aint every year

  8. Well then not the UK then, it could be August and it would still p**s it down here in the UK!

  9. Tell me your joking...do you live in the UK? It's the rainy season here all year round though some months are a wee bitty heavier than others.

  10. Because they are so stuck in the past. The solution is to, finally put some kind of moveable roof on the main court. They have always poo-poohed this in the past as they think it would have a bad effect on the nice green grass. Good grieff, it would only come into play for major finals. I bet that the rest of the world are having a good laugh at us for being total numptys!!!

  11. becuase the schedule is to tight as it is, so if they moved wimbledon further in the summer, the other events will have to move to, such as the Olympics which will not be possible, and the us open and other grand slams :)

  12. bcoz wimbledon is held in summer but even so,

    in england it still rains!

  13. when would that be? In case you haven't noticed it is the summer

If you watch tennis regularly from around the world you will see all tournaments are affected by rain

  14. In fact the Wimbledon committee are considering moving the tournament forward one week (in order to maybe avoid bad weather) but its not decided yet.  (true)

Dont worry, its only taken them 85 years to get to think about it. lol

  15. It's always the raining season in Britain!!!!

  16. there are a lot of tourneys. and you can't just put wimbledon in any random days. it already been scheduled...

  17. In some parts of the world, it's rainy even when it's not the rainy season.  London is in one of those parts of the world.  They have to play this time of year because they don't have lights on the courts.  London is so far north that the sun is still up late at night.   That's why they're still playing over there when it's 9pm.  If they played in my hometown (without lights) at 9pm they'd be playing in pitch darkness.

  18. Because this is England - there is no right season. There is a reason that this isle is so green. Rain, Rain and more rain.
