Why not quarantine people with HIV?

Why cant all people with HIV live in on an island somewhere, or alaska, or somewhere in russia. anyways it doesn't matter where, just as long as it is somewhere. How hard could it be to test everyone for HIV, and send out the people who test positive? Family members of HIV positive people can go and visit them at the location when need be. This way the people who arent infected can be assured that they wont be....

  1. Because it would be violating their civil rights. If they were to quarantine people who asked asinine questions...u would be the first one.....so, how would that make you feel?

  2. Because too many Republicans would object to being shipped off.

  3. because it's not contagious enough for such an extreme measure

  4. They can't make them leave just because they have a disease.. That's like getting rid of everyone who has cancer. They can't kick out American citizens just because they're infected with HIV. It would be a great not having to worry about HIV, but the government will do no such thing.. At least until it gets so bad that the UNinfected people need the island because there are so little of them left

  5. We can sit here and talk about civil rights all we want, but the fact of the matter is when you are reckless with your sexuality where are those who are looking out for the best interest of man kind.

Let me be clear from the onset so as not to cause confusion throughout this post.  I don't want to sound inhumane in my answer, but having a nationwide AIDS exam is truly something I believe we should look into, not just as a nation but as humanitarians.  The horrible disease we know as AIDS has claimed many lives and will continue to do so until one of two things happen A) you find a cure B) you top spreading it.  Its calling it for what it is.  Can we ask people to be at least sexually responsible and get themselves tested and if infected "do the right thing" and not spread it to someone else, because you can sugarcoat it all you want the fact of the matter is you are giving someone a death sentence when you knowingly continue to pass on something like this with little or no regard as to what it will do to that other persons life.

You/We can spend billions upon billions trying to find a cure, which I am totally up for and pray to this day that world would have something less to deal with in coping with HIV/AIDS.  But the fact of the matter is people arent responsible.  Whatever your interpretation of sexual encounters, drug use or if you are part of the small group who still get infected with the virus due to blood transfusions, you should do your part in making sure that right then and there from your end the virus ends.

Im not for one second saying that we abandon all hope in finding a cure, but while that is being done the very least we can do for mankind is do our part to make sure we dont continue to spread it.  Perhaps the term quarantine could have been eliminated but I do believe people should put more efforts in themselves to make sure they dont pass it on to others or do there part not to.  Its easy to call people insensitive or critique possible solutions to eliminate such a horrible disease but do realize that at times there is good intent behind such strong problem solving solutions.

  6. Ugh... hey, ignorance isn't a bliss, is it? Those people have civil rights like everybody.

  7. Please educate your self. Ignorance is NOT s**y.

  8. Ridiculous! You know it can take up to ten years for HIV to show up in your system, don't you? Shall we just quarantine everyone for the next decade until we are able to weed out those unfortunate enough to contract the disease? Everyone deserves equal rights.

  9. why not do the same with people with the 'dumb as ****' disease like yourself  lol

  10. It's not contagious enough (ie air born or spread thru most contact) to be quarantined and i don't think that forcing people against their will to leave normal society would go down to well with people who are HIV positive or people who love them.

Basically just immoral and impractical and WHAT island would you send them to that no one is on that is not the equivalent of a punishment.
