My computer will boot just fine, then after about 5 minutes, it will freeze completely and nothing can snap it out of it. This has only been going on for 2-3 days. The computer and internet work perfectly fine in safe mode (which I'm in right now). I have tried a restore, and it did nothing. I have run a complete virus scan, and there was nothing wrong. What's going on? Please help!

  1. IT's propbably a battery problem.

OR may be a the apm is messed up

I Know it becuz I am Takin Computer Engineering Class Right Now.

Also The Thing Can Be IS The Fan Underneath UR LAPTOP NEeds Open Space to get air.

  2. I HAVE A NEW DELL LAPTOP AND IT DOES THE SAME THING..DELL HAD REPLACED EVERYTHING ON HERE (EVEN THE MOTHER BOARD) BUT COMR TO FIND OUT, IT WAS JUST A SIMPLE VIDEO CARD AND THAT FIXED IT.. YOU CAN GET FREE VIDEO UPGRADES FROM MICROSOFT.COM AND JUST TO BE SAFE,,GO TO WWW.SUPERANTISPYWARE.COM AND GET THEIR FREE VERSION, IT'S AS GOOD AS THE PAID ONE..HOPE THIS HELPS

  3. There may be so many reasons for that.

    1. Hard Drive problem. I had the same problem with my laptop, (instead it goes to a blue screen when it is on the windows loading page). It also did work fine in safe mood. There was an option on the boot setup menu, where some hard drive behavior have to be changed, (im sorry i forgot the names). Or there is a option in the boot menu, with enable S.M.A.R.T capability, weather to turn in on or off. Turn it on. Other option is the one i told above, but i forgot what it is. Just look through the option, if there is any hard drive option with two sub options, change it. (options are not Enable/Disable, it is something else.) That way, the problem can be solved.

    2. Might be a virus. Majority of the viruses start acting long before explorer, and that way, your computer cannot be opened in safe mood.

To correct the problem, in normal mood, go to 'Run' and type 'msconfig' and hit enter. In the dialogue that appears, go to 'startup' tab, and look for anything suspicious there. If there is, disable it. Then go to normal mode and do a complete virus scan.

    3. Other reasons!........ Duh! I am not an expert myself, so i may not be aware of all the possible causes. Sorry.

    Hope it helps!

  4. hey. well this happens if you were on the site where the programer sets a virus or a spyware so when you open it you will have spyware spreading all over your computer. and this will cause your computer to slow down and sometimes even crash, or even leading to a hard drive failure. when you can run your computer try to do a spyware scan. to see if there is any spywares or not. so. ya you just have to scan for the spyware. and dont try the restore.

  5. the same thing happened to my computer and i had to restore my factory settings on my computer...but if you dont want to do something so drastic, you could alway restore your computers settings to 2 weeks ago in the control panel...

    Good Luck

  6. Did you know some virus scan s don't show all types of viruses? Having more than one type of virus scan is a good idea and a virus is the only think I can think could be making this happen.

  7. Mine does that sometimes, the reason might be its over heating( laptops have small cooling fans) if you computer is old you fan my be not running right, you may need to get it cleaned.
