I am a 25 year old female, And over the past 6 months or so My hair has been falling out. It falls out worse in the shower, In clumps and all from the root. But it also comes out when I brush my hair as well. When I am done brushing my hair, I have to clean the brush cause its so full of hair. I was having some scalp issues, with itching and flakes, But I do not think that caused my on going hair loss. I think maybe stress? And unknown illness? I am afraid 6 more months and I would be balding!!

Any clues as to why my hair is falling out??

  1. You may be vitamin deficient. I would recommend taking a daily vitamin & talking to a doctor before it is too late. I'm sorry about your problem! It sounds awful. :[

    *Good luck*

  2. multiple reasons. it could be genetics, stress, thyroid. have you had your thyroid levels checked, and if female thining or baldness runs in the family could be a good factor.also over processing your hair can do it as well.

  3. it could be a stress thing or a reaction to your shampoo/conditoiner if you have changed it recently..but please...dont think that you have cancer...the only reason people with cancer hair fall out is from chemo...not because of the cancer itself

  4.   I am not aware of your health conditions- however, there is a condition called alopecia (hair loss) which can occur for a variety of reasons- stress,   rapid weight loss with poor nutrition.  If it is falling out that much, see your family doctor.  He/She may have a solution

  5. ok, while i cant confirm nor deny this, you do not have cancer, that was a very uniformed and irresponsible answer, hair loss is cause by illness treatments, not generally the illness. Alopecea, as the girl above said, is more than likey it. and as unlikely as stress or weight loss or poor diet may seem those are the most common factors. I have done hair for 6 years and i have seen some cases that i actually didn't believe to be medically related, i honestly thought that one girl was pulling clumps of hair out of her head intentionally until she i was doing her hair one day and witnessed it for myself. The best thing is to go to your doctor, even though they may only tell you exactly what we just told you, its still your best bet. It could also be a condition that you can treat, such as an underactice thyroid which can be determined with a blood test. It could be a lot of things, mostly hormone related. But you can trust me on one thing, it will not last forever and it will get better. Oh yes, i should add no product or over the counter pill or vitamin in the whole world can cure this so if anyone reccomends that, please disregard.

  6. Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems.Perming, straightening, hair dyeing and bleaching ,hot combing, using heated rollers and hot wax inevitably damage the hair.Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp.
