  1. ...just because they havn't renewed the contract for the use of that song just yet doesn't positively mean that it's not going to happen.

I truly believe that there will be a huge public outcry for the song.....just like when the tried to fire Cherry's counterpart Ron McLean.

  2. They can't change it!! This song is the heart and soul of Canada and every Canadian!!

  3. I am an Indian, and you know India is the birth place of Hockey, naturally Hockey is in our blood.  I do share your feelings, and agree that surely it was a gisgrace that they changed the Hockey Night Theme song.

  4. The CBC gets rid of the CFL, and now they are changing the HNIC theme.  Why not go all the way and fire Cherry and Maclean and Hrudey and replace the whole show with Square Dancing Night In Canada.

  5. True....I guess your politicians have been  talking change too

  6. best answer you got to be kidding me Indian do did not invented hockey. even if indian play the soviets would still be better or even canada will beat them but anyways off the the question about the hockey night in Canada theme song. heres my opinion i think it should not change because it is the song we grew accustomed too and we will miss it. i see no need to change the theme.

  7. d**n!!!! why can't they just leave it & the rules alone!!!!!

    Go Ducks!!!!!!

  8. I could understand somewhat if it was a financial decision, but it sounds like they only pay about $500 per use.  So, the CBC has for some reason decided to "move in a new direction" that makes absolutely no sense.

The word "disgrace" might be an understatement.  I'm all for improving things, but how do you improve on something that iconic?  Obviously we're all going to continue watching, but I'll miss that little adrenaline kick I get every time I hear the HNIC theme.  Terrible decision by our laughingstock of a national network, no matter what excuse they try to use.

  9. I don't live there but if it is so popular let someone know about it, maybe the president of the NHL

  10. Still a great answer snoop fan.....

    complain here!

  11. It's a sad day for Canada and hockey fans,

From the United States and Newfoundland.

  12. although I'm not Canadian i feel your pain!.........go flyers!!

  13. I thought it was the first, because it didn't matter if the listener is from Kitchener, Thurso, Moose Jaw or a first-generation hoser.
