Why are they legalising 24wk abortions in australia? It disgusts me. I am pro choice but I'm finding something disturbing about abortion at 24weeks. That is just ridiculuous. Why are they going to allow this and are there restrictions? I mean, does this mean that anyone can just walk into a clinic and have a termination anytime before 24wks? And do you agree with it? I just don't think it's right after 12wks.

  1. I don't think its right at all to have a abortion..however 12 is much better than 24 weeks when the baby is fully developed ..

  2. i have not heard it on the news yet i will keep an ear out - but i agree with you that is disgusting - its murder

  3. i think every person has the right to choose what to do but having a abortion that late is not right, i had my 1st son at 26 weeks and he was a perfectly formed baby, sadly he died 18 hours later but some babies do live, unless there was serious health risks to the mother ect i think its wrong to be able to just think hey i don't want this baby now I'm having a abortion at 24 weeks, its classed as murder in my eyes, sorry but that's my opinion

  4. I dont know, thats silly, because at 24 weeks a child is known as "viable" which means that it has a chance of survival out of the womb. Not to mention that most women start to feel the child kicking at about 20 weeks, sometimes earlier. I was shocked when I heard that it was around that mark in the US.

It's terrible, we should keep it at 12 weeks. That's plenty of time to discover you're pregnant.

  5. I heard of this a few months ago and thought it was so outrageous that they must've gotton it wrong.

I heard that they induce labor, and when the baby's head is showing, inject it with a toxin that kills the baby before it's delivered.

But if the baby's head comes out before they can inject it, they must deliver it as a usual birth save it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE TELL ME IT ISN'T SO???

HOW DARE THEY???!!!  If this is real, those of us who think it barbaric need to write to the Prime Minister!

  6. omg that is ridiculous!! i've heard so many stories of babies who have been born around that stage and have survived and are perfectly healthy!!

im 10 weeks now and when you look at the diagrams and description of how the baby looks like i am surprised, i couldn't go through with it now let alone at 24 weeks!

what is this world coming to!?

i'm sorry but if someone wants an abortion why wait 24 weeks!!

  7. OMG are u serious.. thats awful... im 25 weeks pregnant and thats like me getting an abortion last week.. i couldnt and wouldnt be able to do it.. i think abortion is wrong in the first place how can they do it half way through the pregnacy.... thats so scary..

  8. 24 weeks = 6 months? Nice, Australia always amazes me but I won't get into that. A baby could be actually born and live at 24 weeks. I googled some photos and they look quite developed at the time. Very sad.

  9. Abortion law in Australia is very confusing. In general, a woman can not (legally) obtain an abortion unless it is medically necessary. However, what is considered medically necessary varies by each state and territory. For example, in Queensland, a woman can have an abortion if there is a strong chance the fetus will die before or shortly after birth...but in New South Wales, a woman can not obtain an abortion, even if the fetus has a fatal abnormality, unless her life is at risk.

With the new law, a woman may have an abortion up until 24 weeks, again, only if it is for a medical reason. The difference is at least two doctors must confirm and sign that the abortion is absolutely medically necessary (with early term abortions, one doctor's word is sufficient). If this is not done, the doctor who preformed the procedure can receive criminal charges.

  10. omg..i live in australia and ive never heard about it.....that is discusting....if this is correct there is something very wrong with my country! im only 22 weeks pregnant and i have seen my baby waving on the ultrasound screen and i feel him kicking!!!!! .....24 weeks is way to far gone how upsetting......i think if people HAVE TO have an abortion(im against them all together) then no later then 12 weeks.

  11. I dont agree with that. For one at 24 weeks the baby is almost fully developed and is kicking and moving around. You are definitely taking a life. I really dont agree with abortions in the first place because I am Pro Life and I believe that Kids are a gift from God. There is adoption for people that cant have kids and there is taking care of your responsibilities. If you was grown enough to have s*x be grown enough to take care of what you created. Your momma kept you!!! I'm sorry for the people that don't want to hear this but this is my opinion.

  12. what possible excuse could there be for leaving it that long to make the desiscion I'm pro choice too but thats ridiculous I live in Australia and had'nt heard of this.
