I am assuming that you are a freshman.  College, although it may seem that way to some, is not just for having fun and socializing.  You are there to get an education.  It is hard to get an education without doing any reading, math problems, writing, and other assignments.  College is a process in which you should become smarter and one way to do that is to complete the assignments.  Try to focus when you are working on them, turn the tv off and such so that you can get them done faster and use your free time wisely.
