Why on earth is it so hot in the UK at the moment?

I don't get the weather at home at all! I have been away from home for a long time but I hear that the weather is scorching at the moment. Even more so than where I am now which makes no sense to me at all!

I appreciate that my question is about as answerable as 'what is the meaning of life' but I am really curious as to why! I wonder how long it will last until and if this actually means we'll have a decent summer this year...

Hoping that it will mean a great summer as it was so BAD last year and fab the year before. Looks as though this will be my last one off so will make the most of it!
