Why on earth would my Diamondbacks trade Emilio Bonafacio for Jon Rauch?

He was our future second baseman, set up to take O DAWG's place and he is the fastest man in baseball, I just dont get it. Best farm system a couple years ago and we are trading it all away.

Gieven his size, he'll probably be the backup center for the Big Unit.

Seriously though, the D-Backs really needed a good bullpen.  The Brewers are doing the same thing, only getting better players in return, and they're still stacked as far as the minor league system goes.  I'm sure there's a good reason for making the trade, although the Diamondbacks tend to do plenty of stupid things.

I'm sure there's more people who can play that. Believe me, you can't find much better bullpen help than Rauch. He's a really good pitcher. I'm a Braves fan, so I see him a lot. I wish we could've gotten ahold of him, but oh well. Anyways, just sign Hudson again. He's doing well.

have you been watching the games lately?

the few games the offense scores enough runs to win a game the bullpen comes in and blows it.  even when they still win its scary.  lyons gave up 2 runs and the tying run was on third in his last "save".  then the next game he implodes in the 9th.  and from what i saw of bonafacio in his call up he wasnt that impressive.  speed does nothing for you if they dont get on base (i.e. chris young).  although even when he's on base he's still not a threat to run because he's scared

Rauch is insurance for Brandon "gas can" Lyon.  Rauch has been pitching well in the closers role for the Nats since Cordero has been out.

if you had the best farm system a couple years ago you should be deeper than a couple good prospects in the system

the d-backs need definite help in that bullpen, and rauch will be a good addition for them to win and contend in the near future, and while bonifacio is a very solid prospect hudson is still pretty young himself and is not in any particular need of being replaced
