Question:

Why only three prayers (long question)?

As many of us already know, the "Submitters" aka only Quran followers and Hadith rejectors, only pray three times a day. Every time I bring up this topic up, the Submitters avoid the question and say that we have the wrong Shahada and keep using the excuse that I deny the Quran. Another excuse thrown at me is that I don't speak Arabic, while might I add, have been through intensive Classical, Proper, and Colloquial Arabic classes since I was born. Not one English word was allowed in my house, so the excuse of me not speaking Arabic thus not understanding the Quran is plain bogus. My intentions are never to "expose" anyone or try to prove people wrong. If you only believe in the Quran, than I will only prove to you from the Quran. If you only accept Sahih Bukhari and Muslim, than I will use only that to prove something to you. And if you only accept Hadiths from Behaarul Alnwaar, the I will use only that. So no need for void questions or arguments. If I am proven wrong, I admit I am wrong. So, tell me I am wrong when I give you this proof from the Quran. The proof that there are 5 distinct Salats and not three:

Surah 20, Verse 130:

فاصبر على مايقولون وسبح بحمد ربك قبل طلوع الشمس وقبل غروبها ومن اناء الليل فسبح واطراف النهار لعلك ترضى

Instead of me giving my own interpretation and translation of the Quran, I will cite them from a few sources in which I agree with the overall translation:

Yusuf Ali: Therefore be patient with what they say, and celebrate (constantly) the praises of thy Lord, before the rising of the sun, and before its setting; yea, celebrate them for part of the hours of the night, and at the sides of the day: that thou mayest have (spiritual) joy.

Pickthal: Therefor (O Muhammad), bear with what they say, and celebrate the praise of thy Lord ere the rising of the sun and ere the going down thereof. And glorify Him some hours of the night and at the two ends of the day, that thou mayst find acceptance.

Hilali/Khan: So bear patiently (O Muhammad SAW) what they say, and glorify the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun, and before its setting, and during some of the hours of the night, and at the sides of the day (an indication for the five compulsory congregational prayers), that you may become pleased with the reward which Allah shall give you.

Clearly, there are five distinct times which are mentioned in this one verse, according to the three major translations of the Quran:

1. "before the rising of the sun"

2. "before the setting of the sun"

3. "some hours of the night"

4. "the sides/two ends of the day (two separate prayers)"

The specified prayers are those listed below:

1. Salaat Al-Fajr (صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ) - Dawn Prayer / 24:58

2. Salaat Jumu’ah (صَلَاةِ جمعة ِ) - Friday Prayer / Salat Al-Thuhr on other days (decline of the sun)

3. Al-Salaat Al-Wusta (الصَّلاَةِ الْوُسْطَى) - Middle Prayer / 2:238

4. Salaat Al-Maghrib - Sunset Prayer

Assalaata Ledulooki Ash-shamsi Ela Ghasaqi Al-layl

- الصَّلاَةَ لِدُلُوكِ الشَّمْسِ إِلَى غَسَقِ اللَّيْلِ

- at the sun's decline till the darkness of the night / 17:78

The sun is at it's highest peak typically in the noon (depending on the month) between 12-1 pm (Pacific Time). The decline of the sun begins right after 12-1 and that is the same time Thuhr is prayed. In this verse, all prayers from Thuhr (decline of the sun), Asr (Middle prayer), Maghrib (end of the day), and Isha (night prayer) are included.

Tarafayi Annahaari Wazulafam Min Allayl

- طرفي النهار وزلفا من الليل

- at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night / 11:114

(Maghrib marks the end of the day).

5. Salat Al-Ishaa (صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ) - Night Prayer / 24:58

There are clearly 5 different prayers mention in the first verse I provided.

**************************************...

So Submitters, tell me you are not wrong for only praying three Salats a day. And stop avoiding the question if you are going to answer it. Since I have tried being nice when asking questions to you, and you know who you are, I'll have to throw out the proof first. Let's see how many excuses you come up with now or what new topics you'll try to start to steer off the question. Stick to the question and the question alone.

  1. I totally agree with you. I believe in the hadith 100%, (sahih hadith, that is) unless they contradict the Qur'an.

IF people like Mohammed K don't believe in hadiths at all, that's their problem. You see, even if you are Qur'an only, then there's nothing wrong with praying 2 extra salaat, or are Quran only people gonna make that a crime too?

    SUNNAH ALL THE WAY

  2. Salam for you my dear friend.Yes you are right that in the Qur'an is not stated clearly how many times we should pray mandatory in 24 hours. It is explained cleatrly in hadits of Muhammad pbuh.In the Qur'an

is stated only its main time of prayer eg.shubuh before sunrise,at noon and at night. But insurah 20 verse 130 it seems only 4 times eg before dawn(shubuh),at noon(zuhur),before sunset and at night. But infact before sunset is wustha prayer(ashr) and at night we have 2 prayers eg maghrib prayer and isya prayer. So we should obey to Qur'an and also hadits as our life guide

  3. [37:35] When they were told, "Laa Elaaha Ella Allah," they turned arrogant.

17:46 We place shields over their hearts, that they should not understand it, and deafness in their ears. If you mention your Lord in the Quran alone, they run away turning their backs in aversion

17:46 وجعلنا على قلوبهم اكنة ان يفقهوه وفى ءاذانهم وقرا واذا ذكرت ربك فى القرءان وحده ولوا على ادبرهم نفورا

Submitters submit to Allah Alone and not bukhary muslim, trimdhi, taimiyah, nassai and others you submit to this c**p,not us.you know arabic why dont you understand the verses carefully  !!!!

i owe no explanation to you.if you understand there are 5 salat, then keep praying 5 ! may Allah accept your 5 Salat for i am not here to accept your salat and neither you are here to accept my 3 Salat.Salat is for Allah Allmighty ALONE.do you have problem with that ?

if you want to know email me i will tell you where the error is Rumaitha.

in the mean time brush up your arabic plz,and deeply understand the verses about Salat plz.strange you know arabic so well and still you dont understand !! but not strange,as Guidance Rests with Allah Allmighty ALONE,and not with hadith narrators, find yourself, where the error lies,,when you absolutely FAIL  to UNDERSTAND the verses regarding 3 Salat then request me Insha Allah i will NOT dissappoint you.oh well ! stick to Allah Alone.

you seem pretty frustrated,Rumaitha Fluent in Arabic !

in the mean time keep avoiding my earliest Question about 37:35 and 3:18 !!

obsessed by a person like you !! who is so obsessed by "i am right" thing

Miss Know All, you are not here to guide people neither you could ever do,but it is PITTY you know arabic and still you dont understand Glorious Quran, its an acievement i dont know arabic and ALhamdolillahe i strive to understand Glorious Quran  and Alhmadolillahe i know the rules to read and understand Glorious Quran..

but the people who know arabic, and still follow hadith books,

and Reject 6:114.6:38.and argue that Glorious Quran is not complete therefore hadith is imperative and absolutely essential.

but the bottom line is its a PITTY you do not understand Glorious Quran, knowing arabic language.Pitty and Shame..

the problem is ,you have spoken a lot for yourself ,even if i prove you wrong, you will never ever admit your mistake, you will become stubborn and would never admit your mistake you made, due to your arrogance.

and also one important thing,if Arabic was THE CRITERIA of understanding Glorious Quran then Allah Allmighty wouldnt have said the following for arabs,WORST IN DISBELIEF AND HYPOCRISY,now ARAAB DOES NOT MEAN BEDOUIN it is Plural of Arab.

[9:97] The Arabs are the worst in disbelief and hypocrisy, and the most likely to ignore the laws that GOD has revealed to His messenger. GOD is Omniscient, Most Wise.

[9:101] Among the Arabs around you, there are hypocrites. Also, among the city dwellers, there are those who are accustomed to hypocrisy. You do not know them, but we know them. We will double the retribution for them, then they end up committed to a terrible retribution.

again shame on you that you know arabic and you read Glorious Quran in Arabic too but you CAN NOT GET THE MESSAGE Through Glorious Quran, how shameful.!!

the problem and sinful error is ,(those who follow hadith)

you dont see that your practices could be wrong, therefore you dont find relevance in Glorious Quran, you read Glorious Quran not so carefully and seek message from hadith books!!

and consider Glorious Quran Incomplete.not detailed and not perfect !! Rad Glorious Quran and Seek Message from Glorious Quran Alone That's Allah Allmighty's WORD,Allah Will Explain you

  4. Salam sis,

There are differences of opinion on how many times to pray amongst Submitters. Many of them pray 5 times a day (as also told in the Quran). Kalifa states prayer is 5 times also. Some of his followers dispute that and pray 3 times.

There are also submitters who do not follow Kalifa at all (except that they believe in Quran also) and some of them pray 5 times, others 3. So even within the 'sect' Quran Alone there are different sects!

    From Submission.org:

FIVE PRAYERS A DAY AND THEIR TIME :

God gave us the times for the Salat (contact Prayers) in the Quran :

    (1) The Dawn Prayer (Fajr in Arabic) given in 11:114, 24:58

    (2) The Noon Prayer (Zuher in Arabic) , given in 17:78 and 30:18

    (3) The Afternoon Prayer (Asr in Arabic), given in 2:238

    (4) The sunset Prayer (Maghrib in Arabic), given in 11:114

    (5) The Night Prayer (Isha in Arabic), given in 24:58

  5. Mohammad K: Salat have been offered 5 times a day since the time of prophet Muhammad.  There wasn't any discontinuation in this practice from the time when prophet Muhammad taught muslims how to pray to this present time ......and this has been passed down to us from generation to generation. When was the last time when we looked at the hadiths to find out how many times we had to pray? Never actually. We just know that because it has been passed down to us and since it was practiced so often and so many times a day, there cannot possibly be any errors in it. The submitters only sect completely disregards this past and present fact and follow the Quran as if it was written yesterday.

Sure there are different ways ppl offer these 5 times salat but the core fundamentals have been the same.

Sometimes u have to look at history and c how it unfolded and then come to a conclusion. Submitters should do the same.
