  1. It's traditional to serve tea.

And oolong is probably the cheapest kind.

  2. Tradition.  It is Chinese tradition to serve tea to guests before discussing business - in a restaurant, ordering food is business.

This one of problems Americans have in China, Americans want to business first.  In China it is very to get know each other BEFORE transacting business.

Oolong tea is not inexpensive tea.

  3. Teas are very traditional in many Asian cultures. You would likely be served green tea at a Japanese restaurant. You can read about Chinese tea culture here:

I know oolong is said to have many health benefits such as lowering blood sugar, reducing cavities, reducing the risk of cancer and suppressing aging. Oolong is considered to be between a black tea and a green tea, so it does still contain some caffeine. I bought some loose oolong (which is way stronger than the bags) and thought it would make me sleepy (like chamomile and some other teas) and instead, it made me very nervous and jittery. I wouldn't suggest this tea right before bed! It is also suggested that oolong tea may aid in weight loss. It increases metabolism and reduces triglycerides in the body.

  4. my mom uses it to lose weight
