When Power Play is in progress, batsmen will be able to score runs at faster rate as they  can effectively use aerial route.  Once the power plays are over, it may not be easier to score boundaries as compared with the power play period.  Normally during the middle order of the match, power plays will be over and the scoring rate will come down. However, during the last 5 or 10 overs if wickets are in hand, the batsmen at crease can slog and increase the run rate.
