  3. *  Pancreas has an exocrine portion that secretes digestive enzymes through pancreatic duct into duodenum.

        * Pancreas is also endocrine in that it secretes insulin and glucagon from the islets of Langerhans.

    Since the pancreas can be  classified as both an endocrine and  exocrine gland, therefore, it is referred to as a heterocrine gland..
