your younger brother asks you one day to know why paperclips float on water when it's made of matel. he's just learnt the concept of density in class, and he very well knows that metal is denser than water and that it should sink.

  1. I'd say it's because the surface area of the paperclip and the surface tension of the water are enough to support the density of the paperclip, and thus it floats.
