We pay tax on a full gallon even though the gallon is only 9/10th gasoline... Why are we paying the same tax on ethanol that we are paying on gas? Isn't it bad enough that we have to use the c**p that will destroy our mileage?

  1. The tax is not just a tax on "gasoline". It is a tax on fuel in general to pay for the roads. The more fuel that is sold means the more people are driving. Therefore the roads are being used more and will cost more to maintain. Even people using WVO are supposed to file tax forms to pay the road tax on the oil veggie oil they are burning in there vehicles.

  2. It's an environmental thing. On the other hand, that extra ethanol does act as an octane booster. Regardless, there's nothing you can do except not worry about it.
