Why people are doing wars and terrorism in the name of God?

Has God asked the people of any religion to do wars and kill

people in the name of God

People use the name of God when they engage in terrorism or start a war because they know they need to do so to get their populations to support them.   When an authority figure says he is acting in the name of God, how many people actually question that?  Human beings have a tendency to be ethnocentric and they will believe that God is always on their side.  And those who do question that claim can be intimidated more easily if the name of God is used.  

So, no, God does not tell people to kill in His name, but people have always found ways to say that he does.

Scriptures of christans, jews and Moslems have called upon the faithful to wage war against the unbeleivers. It relates to a particular phase in its history.

The Makkan pagans persecuted the Muslims very much.And they plotted to kill the Prophet himself.Hence, he had to migrate to Madinah and establish an Islamic republic there.

The Makkans wanted  to raise a big army and kill the nascent Islamic state.Then Allah sanctioned permission to the persecuted muslim refugees from Makkah to fight against the infidels to protect the churches, monastries, synagogues and Mosques from sure ruination by unbelievers.

Thus, the time "to fight in the way of God" has gone by.

"Jihad" means striving to the utmost only.The Great Jihad consists of 'fighting the unbelievers with the Holy Quran ' only.

If anyone pleads with the Muslim youth today to fight in the name of God and become a 'martyr' , he has ;

i)   no authority to say so;

ii)  jihad is a divine sanctioned authority to the oppressed Muslims to fight against the opppressor only,and killing of innocent peoplecannot be deemed a jihad;

iii) the cause of jihad has to be such that even the opponents should appreciate the spirit behind it;

iv) the preparation and equipment must be such as to lead the opponent to fear the muslims.

If the fight fails to satisfy the above conditions , it cannot be deemed to be a jihad.Hence, the much -adoed- jihad of present day cannot be deemed jihad.

Lastly, Islam deems the 'Human soul" a sacred one and hence, suicide as well as homicide are taboo in  Islam. So the terrorist cannot be deemed a Muslim.

The present day jihads are politically motivated and not

due to religious considerations.

Read the Holy Bible. You will find that the Old Testament is one of the bloodiest books ever written. People have killed for the sake of their god or gods since before the beginning of recorded history. This is a part of human life that is not going to end any time soon.
