how come the best military forces in the whole world

with the top military technology of the whole world

are unable to win a war against third world people

ex farmers and ex shepherds?????????

what country?  we are kicking butt and taking names every where we are deployed.  but of course u listen to cnn, abc, cbs and ny times, i am sure, and never heard of any progress.

it's not as easy as you think - these people dont wear iniforms and hide amongst innocent people so they are indistinguishable from civilians.

they dont mind killing hundreds of their own people to get to us by using for example roadside bombs.

imagine how difficult it is when you are on patrol through a  town and you're surrounded by thousands of people - each one a potential threat that doesnt care about blowing themselves and ordinary people up including children.

we are winning this thing but it takes time be patient - we have guidelines andstrict rules of engagement to follow.

try reading up on this subject and keeping up with current affairs.

all this is very important to know when it comes to you voting who is going to run the country and it is good that you are questioning things.   your voice and vote is very powerful and if you dont feel like things are going the way you want then you have to do something about it - even something as small as an email or a petition can make a massive difference.

Because the methods and techniques of the war are not traditional.  The "army" we are fighting against dress as plains clothes persons and employ methods such as suicide bombs which are difficult for us to detect and desist.  We are fighting against many, many fractions that have only grown in numbers since the invasion.  This is a culture war, and like the culture war between the Soviet Union and the United States,  it is not something that can be finished with in a matter of weeks.  It is not even a secret; even on CNN, high-ranking public officials have admitted the war would last a least a decade.

Also, there is a financial and political interest in keeping the war going.  The war has cost billions of dollars.  It's not like that money has turned into thin air-- it has gone into not only equipment and new technologies, but as filled the pockets of several key companies that were given no-bid contracts from the US government.  Contractors such as Haliburton have made a fortune, and though there is nothing wrong with making a profit in wartime, the way these contracts were forged, as well as the outrageous billing (do you remember that article a few years ago about the Pentagon being charged like at least $20 for a single ice cube tray?  Seriously, look it up) and the *** missing 9 BILLION ****in US funds, not to count the stock and presence on company boards of the politicians... well there is something dishonest going on.

A few knuckleheads are fighting an assymetric war against coalition forces playing 'hit and run' with IED's. That's it. Your 'third world people' are getting the floor mopped with themselves. 5 years and they are showing signs of wear and tear.
