    We dine for enjoyment.

  6. Most of the time people in the US eat because they are gluttonous, and because there is a surplus of food available to us. If you asked people elsewhere, they would likely say that you need to eat for sustenance, but because of our lack of self-control and lack of quality education, we say things like, "It's yummy in my tummy."

Because it's really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really yummy. Well most of it anyway.

  10. Many reasons:

    1.  Nourishment.  Our bodies are like fine tuned machines and food is the fuel that makes us go.

    2.  Pleasure.  Gluttony isn't one of the seven deadliest for nothin'.  

    3.  Guilt.  If you don't eat all your greens mother will be angry with you.  Don't you know there are starving children in (name of third world country).  Don't make mama sad.  Eat that broccoli baby.
