  1. I think we should have a professional jury. Americans are too busy to waste their time deciding if some low life committed a crime. Also if you refuse to serve you can be arrested. A pro jury will know all of the proceedings and tax payers won't have to pay for delays to train a new batch of jurors for every case.

  2. Ha...ha...the 2nd answer is funny and unimformed. Jurors aren't "trained." They're given a set of instructions by the judge that takes just a few minutes. As for professional jurors, there would be too much of a risk of jury tampering. Using unemployed folks may have possibilties. In the meantime though, if you have to serve on a jury just go enjoy the experience. It's a great lesson in civics.

  3. It's a standard that has been set for all of us to follow.

I have a big problem with Jury Service, there is more protection for the person up on charges than the jury members. Everyone of us have to lose because of civil duties, time, money, etc. I once was on a jury where an older woman was also selected, it cost her more money to take the bus than what she was going to receive for jury duty. She told me she was on a fix income, and it was hard on her.Case and point, you're on a jury for a number of weeks, after you leave that court room each day, you have no protection from friends and family members of that person. I bring this up because many years ago I was select for jury, the people that attend the trial look like they could have been part of the Mafia, it wasn't a good feeling leaving the courthouse everyday until the trial was over.

  4. good question

i have to be on duty for the next 3 months.

why not have the people on unemployment do jury duty?
