  1. I think its just the Federer fans gettin pissy cus hes seem to have had a bad couple of week losing wimbly then the Rodgers and Cincy. and now hes lost his #1 spot. There must be alot of disapointed fans...but he had a good few years there so what the big deal... let the new, better player have his glory. I think there will always be pesimistic people that want Rafa to lose but at the end of the day hes an amazing player and hes worked really hard for his place.

Im really happy for Rafa tho :) hes gonna be #1 for ages im sure!! I think atm all of the other players r scared of him tho cus once hes won tht first set ..they just give up the fight and he wins easily. So hes not gonna lose to anyone for a long time methinks.

    Vamos Rafa! :D :D :D

  2. people like to ask about everything :-)

even sometimes they already know the answer...

  3. By Sunday he will officially become the world no. 1 on the ATP rankings. After winning his last match against Nicolas Lapentti 7-6, 6-1.

I think a lot of people are comparing him to Federer, and since Federer has been at no. 1 for so many weeks (235 to be exact), and Nadal has been second to him for a long time they think roger will be able to overtake him again.

Another reason could be because it's the hard court season and Nadal sometimes struggles winning tournaments during this season.

People will also be thinking of him as possibly becoming one of 'the best players tennis has ever seen' soon - simply because he has got to no.1. A lot of his accomplishments will be compared to Rogers, as well as how long he an last as no.1.

Rafa's the talk of the tennis world right now.. he's going to be under a lor of pressure. People will say these things whoever's number one. And the rivarly between him and Federer (although they are good friends) are going to make it worse.

I support Federer and Nadal, (Federer is my favourite of all time =]) it will be weird to have a new number one, but I'm still confident that Federer will challenge Nadal for it and get it back for atleast a short amount of time =]

I hope this helps answer your question too..

  4. This is because currently Nadal is ruling the men tennis and media & fans have high expectation on him.  Even he hasn't even taken the no.1 spot but he's current top form makes people already assume his the world no.1.

Things are always like that.  When you are a potential good player, people tend to discuss when will you become world no.1.  When you reached that position, people tend to know how long can you hold it.  See what happened to Sampras when his on no.1 for six consecutive years?  Second example in tennis is Federer as his been in his own zone for almost five years.  Same thing happened to other sports.  For example like Tiger Woods and Michael Schumacher.  People tend to know how long can they perform that way.  That is just human nature.

  5. I know! It's so pointless and annoying. Since he already took the #1 spot, he'll probably have it for a long time now. People don't believe he can hold on to it....

  6. HE WILL ALWAYS BE NO1 !

  7. well he may not have the ranking yet but now its for sure that he will take over the no. 1 spot this month, when exactly this month depends on his performance at cincinnati.

    - If Nadal wins the title, he will become No. 1 this Monday.

    - If Nadal loses in the final he will become No. 1 on August 11

    - If Nadal loses in the semifinals he will become No. 1 on August 18

    so naturally people will contemplate.

they are also debating cos the competeition at the top is really close and his injuries worry people.

personally i am very very happy.

congrats to rafa and rafa fans.

    go nadal!

  8. Yes that can be quite irritating to hear how hes gonna lose his position when he hasn't even attained it yet. In the hearts and mind of the world right now, Rafael Nadal is considered the number 1 tennis player in the world, by defeating Roger Federer both at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Hes the main talk of the tennis world, and so every type of attention is attracted; especially the negative type. Nadal is ever closer to attaining the #1 position as he is currently #1 in the ATP race, followed by Djokovic and than Federer, so sports media is anticipating and of course predicting. Its all a part of the game. Fortunately Rafa takes this type of attention with a grain of salt.
