Why people love pets instead of loving each other?

don't you think people are loving animals instead of loving each other? lot's of people are sick in Africa and USA forces are killing people in Iraq and terrorists are killing people, why rich people spend a lot of money on their pets even they can save human life(in Africa) with this money?

I think its b/c pets dont talk back, make you sad or angry, wont cheat on you lol, if you tell them a secret they cant tell it to noone and just bc their fun to be around with. It make me happy :)

Because pets won't hurt you, kill you, bad mouth you and will always be by your side, no matter what.  Humans have the ability to choose what's right from wrong, pets don't know.  Pets just want food and attention.  People betray one another even after you have extended a hand.

I believe its because people dissappoint us, and have alot of baggage. SOme people prefer the predictability of a pet.
