Can some action be taken on Yahoo? Isn't this violation of right of freedom of speech and expression granted by constitution? Can I complain against yahoo to some authority?

  1. Yahoo has no interest in actually reviewing complaints its just a show.

I have had plenty of reports some reasonably so but most not at all. If someone finds what you post offensive they just report and its easier for yahoo to just censor it than to actually make an effort to understand it and give an impassioned ruling.

  2. It happens to me all the time too, I answer a question and I come back to check and I’ve been reported. There is no freedom of speech on yahoo. It’s only freedom of speech if your opinion is the same as the majority!

  3. you can do anything they want but yahoo had you agree to a terms and conditions thingy which you probly didnt read neither did i but further more whatever you say will not matter you agreed to the terms and conditoins thing

  4. brave statement dude. i m with u. do it

  5. There are a number of issues with what you say:

    1.  The Constitution: this aplies to the US only.  The rest of the world does not have any requirement to follow it.

    2.  Corporations have every right to control what is said through them.  Yahoo is well aware that, despite any number of disclaimers, it could be held liable for what it allows on this site.

    3.  There is always a balance between freedoms and responsibilities. Your alleged freedom of speech is not, and was never intended to be, absolute.

    4.  Yahoo is inconsistent: it does follow a very strong PC thread, where certain things said are far more strictly controlled than others.  That is why strong anti-male sentiments are not automatically removed, but mild anti-feminist sentiment is removed quickly due to fear of legal sanction.

    5.  A lot of the deletions and reportings come from self-appointed moral guardians, and they troll through Y!A and automatically report that which they feel is inappropriate, thus stifling feedom of expression.  The very nature of Political Correctness is that certain questions and points of view must not ever be expressed or questioned, and this is the ultimate censorship.

I have rather a lot of contempt for the Y!A reporting system because it is disgustingly biased and unaccountable.

  6. you can try replying to the violation notice at yahoo and state your case.  but i have yet to ever see anyone get their violation overturned.  as far as i can tell the yahoo staff never even reads the appeals.  yahoo seems to let anyone report anyone for any reason, or no reason at all, and they never do a thing to stop it.

  7. appeal

    good luck!

  8. Yeah ~ good luck with that!

Here's a link to the Appeals process, hope you have better luck than me, lol.

    Cheers :-)
