Well in the western world, our public transportation is so effective and efficient that we do not need to have cars to get around. My question is why can't asian countries even wealthy countries like japan and korea strive to have better public transportation? If people use public transportation it will help to solve traffic congestion and also better air quality.

If u answer my question, i want to know ur nationality and ur race. Thx

  1. I'm Japanese, born in Japan and partly grew up in the USA. If i compare public transportation where i lived (California) to how it is in most places in Japan, i would say that both buses and trains here are more comfortable and run on time much more reliably than those in the USA. More people here use public transportation than in California (especially since having a car is such a status symbol for Californians).

I can't answer about Korea, but i'm quite happy with public transportation in Japan.

  2. Where the h**l in the western world do you live?  Not USA for sure.  The only way you wouldn't need a car here is if you lived downtown in a major city.  I've seen much better public transportation in Asian countries than here.

With the current fuel prices, I decided to check out the bus schedule.  My 20-minute drive would become a 90-minute bus commute each way.  That's after I already walked a mile to get to the bus stop, which wouldn't be much fun in the rain.  If I missed a bus, I'd have to wait a whole hour for the next one.  I live very close to my state capital too.

When I was in the Philippines, I could get a Jeep or tricycle almost anywhere, anytime.

  3. i'm in atlanta, georgia and if you live here and don't own a car, you probably wish you did. the public transportation here SUCKS. it takes literally 3 hours to get to my school from the train station (my school is only a 30 minute drive away). the only cities in america that i've heard take the place of public transportation are in new york and washington d.c. and even d.c. isn't that good, because once you get out into virginia and maryland, you're back to long bus routes and no train. and what does someone's race have do do with how good or bad public transportation is?
