  2. Social reinforcement is the most powerful reward for most kids. A simple smile, with a pat on the back, along with a "good job!" will really motivate.

    You can also use a variable reward schedule. Variable reinforcement will motivate a child to work hard for your approval, in spite of the fact he isn't rewarded every time when he performs a desired behavior. This helps to establish intrinsic motivation.

    Remember to use operant conditioning; it's very powerful.
