Historically, most human slaughter has resulted because of the competitiveness of religious dogmas. Why?

  2. The premise of your question is incorrect. All human conflict is about power, either the power over others or over resources. The fact that a religion is often used as an aegis for that power-hunger is incidental. If there was no such thing as religion the power-hungry would find another reason to enslave their fellows or murder them for their stuff.
