  1.  @Guest1020, rich and poor are all subjective terms that are used in perspective.  Obviously, the poor do not get poorer if you just compare the dollar value and value of possessions, but that is not relevant.

There are many reasons for the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.  Yes, basically, it is lifestyle choices.  Many people, regardless of their parents being rich or poor, do not get an education and work hard.  While others work hard and play their cards correctly.  However, this is just a flaw, yet necessary trait, of humanity.

One problem is just a basic flaw of humans; the rich, no matter how rich they are, want to get richer and do not actually see how rich they are in comparison to the rest of the world (for most, not all rich people).  My family is considered middle class, and we are struggling financially, yet in perspective, we are considered rich to the rest of the world.  So while my family may complain about money and is not willing to give lots of money to the poor, many of the poor people in developing countries are blaming us for being too rich.  Anyways, this brings me to my next topic: health care.

No matter what type of reform one may feel is necessary, most people agree that our health care needs reform.  Many insurance companies are taking advantage of the capitalist system and are abusing it.  The beauty of our constituion, which most Tea Party followers love to say that our country is failing to follow, is its flexibility and ability to change.  The makers of our constitution said that our constitution needs to be able to change in respect to the time period and that time's inhabitants wishes.  Anyways, our country is ranked 37th in the world for health care quality and coverage, which is really sad considering we are one of the only developed, industrialized, major country with private health care services.  Even if I grow up to be rich, I am willing to give up some of my money for poor people who don't have coverage.  That is part of being human: we only live for 80 or so years, why live it to be greedy and take from other people?  I would never be able to live with the guilt.

Anyways, parts of our country are corrupt and greedy, which led to our recession and many problems.  (Our recession was created by greedy people who wanted to be rich fast thus giving out unbelievable loans to people who couldn't possible afford it.)

Bottom line, the rich people have more power, and know how to manipulate the system, therefore getting richer.  The poor have to suffer not only from their decisions and their family's decisions to not get an education, but also suffer from the rich people's manipulation to make themselves richer and the poor poorer.  Granted, not everybody falls under this stereotype, but generally, I feel these are major problems for the US.

Ask people from other countries, and some will say that they respect Americans' ambitions, but believe that we are greedy selfish people.

I don't think the government should have the power to force people to give up lots of their money for the poor, but I think people should have the conscious and the will to help others.

I am young, optimistic, and gen y.  I feel things need to and will be changed, but people have to be willing to accept it.
