I wish it was true but:

Verse 3:117 - "Believers, do not make friends with any but your own people." Verse 5:51 - "Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends. They are friends with one another."Verse 60:13 - "Believers, do not make friends with those who have incurred the wrath of Allah."

If you are not a Muslim and you think you have a Muslim friend, you better read the Koran. According to the Koran, they are either pretending or sinning.

This was the mildest quote of the many offered.  I don't think this person is making these quotes up.

I wish there was some way to reconcile this but you would have to change a Holy Text to do that and I doubt that is going to happen.

The world is smaller today than ever before, more people and easy travel, the future awaits but how are going to handle this new situation with a holy road block.

Note: Target makes a good point about McVeigh, that problem was caused by the "eye for an eye" thought which isn't really Christian. I believe that only self defense killing is allowed as Jesus does speak about swords. Even capital punishment should be questioned, it might be wise to outlaw capital punishment worldwide as to make it common thought that killing is wrong. Don't dislike me, I am only throwing out ideas.

I think a lot of people, especially in the US, have been conditioned by way of fear to believe that Islam is a violent religion and only violent people with terroristic tendencies follow it.  A good number of people are ignorant on the subject and refuse to try to understand that Islamic people are not mass murders or militant as you say.  People seem to forget that with every political and religious group come extremists who do not represent the group as a whole. Sad, but true.

I think that a person's views on pacifism vs. militancy don't depend only on religion, they also depend on their geographical region and the events throughout history that have shaped their country, and their personal experiences. You have to try to understand why people who are militants think their cause is justified.

Wanna bet that I can find at least one Kosovan, or one Azerbaijani that is militant.  Heck you don't have to go far, remember Al Zarqawi?  He was Jordanian.  You see you just can't generalize.  I'm not saying all Muslims are militants, far from it, I have many Muslim friends.  Most Muslims on earth are not militant.  Most Muslims on earth are actually moderate, loving and caring people.  Problem has always been the few that are louder than the rest.  These few are the ones heard around the world.  

Come to think of it, the same can be said of us Christians.  Look at McVeigh he's Catholic.  Fact is you can just as easily find violent excerpts from the Bible as in the Qur'an.  The Bible is very intollerant of the other religions of its time, look at all the killings of the so called pagans.

one persons militant/terrorist is anothers freedonmfighter. Islam does not and never did condone the killing of innocents. Those people are using jihaad for their own purposes.

But then I think Bush is a terrorist. He instigated the killing of thousands of innocent children and woman. The Serbs killed thousands of muslim kosovans...how come their religion is not shouted about.

All Muslims clearly aren't militant but most militants and terrorists are Muslim.  I would suspect that those you mentioned aren't militant because they are essentially 100% Muslim.  If they were half Sunni and half Shia, it would be Jihad time.
