  1. maybe dean martin sang the song 'it never rains in california'. ive never heard the saying before though. whenever ive seen california on the tv its always sunny, maybe its to do with its geographical location

  2. but it pours.

dean martin was an actor/singer that make his life playing a drunk.

  3. "It is a song from 1972 written and sung by Albert Hammond.  The song chorus goes like this...

Seems it never rains in Southern California

Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before

    It never rains in California

But, girl, don't they warn ya

    It pours, man, it pours

It is a reference to when things happen there, it either takes a while or everything happens all at once....sort of like the old saying 'when it rains, it pours'.

For Dean Martin, he was an actor, entertainer and singer.  He starred in a lot of movies.  He was alway portrayed as a bit of a lush...someone who would drink a bit too much wine.  He hosted his own TV variety show from 1965 to 1974.  (There was somewhat of a saying about him...'You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink, but you can lead a camel to water and he will drink like Dean Martin'.)

Two songs he was well known for were "Everybody Loves Somebody" and "That's Amore".

He was considered a member of a group of Hollywood entertainers known as "The Rat Pack".
