  1. Well, I do believe in global warming. I'm guessing by the wording of your question, that you may believing in global warming as well.

However, there is nothing to "believe". Global warming is a fact and has been for quite awhile now.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predicts that global temperature will rise from 2.0 to 11.5 F within the 21st century. This may not seem like a whole lot, but such a change will increase sea levels, change precipitation patterns, cause arctic shrinkage, and increase extreme weather events.

Whether you "believe" in global warming or not, the change in weather can even be seen in our everyday lives. It is impossible to ignore the odd weather lately. Deadly hurricanes, floods, extremely hot and cold weather, and tornadoes in odd places are not normal and should not be so easily dismissed. How many more people must die due to these extreme, unpredictable weather events for people to face the truth? OR, to put it in economic terms, how much more money are you willing to LOOSE to pay for restoring all the damage done to your community?

At the same time, we are loosing the earth's biodiversity due to climate change. Species extinction causes trophic cascade. In other words, when we loose a species we threaten loosing many more. Trophic cascade is unpredictable and may eventually harm people by effecting our food web.

Yet, why do so many American's still think global warming is a myth? Global warming is a scary thought. Social psychology suggests that when people are faced with an overwhelming fear without  a means to relieve that fear, they will tend to dismiss the validity of the fear. This can be seen in the reaction towards global warming. The prospect of unpredictable weather is frightening because it seems to be out of our human control.

Yet, there are ways to reduce global warming. Here are 5 easy things you can do to help reduce both global warming, and the amount of money you spend!

    1. Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (cfl)

CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. This simple switch will save about 300 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

    2.Install a programmable thermostat

Programmable thermostats will automatically lower the heat or air conditioning at night and raise them again in the morning. They can save you $100 a year on your energy bill.

    3. Move your thermostat down 2° in winter and up 2° in summer

Almost half of the energy we use in our homes goes to heating and cooling. You could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment.

    4. Clean or replace filters on your furnace and air conditioner

Cleaning a dirty air filter can save 350 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

    5. Choose energy efficient appliances when making new purchases

Look for the Energy Star label on new appliances to choose the most energy efficient products available.

Whether you "believe" in global warming or not, the changes in weather events will effect you both physically and economically.

  2. b/c global warming was accepted as a scientific fact in 1992. The environment is heating WAY up if you didn't notice. A lot of people died of heat stroke last Summer. More people are getting asthma. The polar ice caps are melting. Polar bears, as well as almost half the worlds spieces are in danger of becoming extinct. The water level is rising, as well as tsunami risks, I could go on and on . . .

  3. because it's an anti-capitalist conspiracy

  4. The climate is getting warmer.  Climate change is nothing new.  During the last Ice Age, you could walk from France to Britain.  The sea level was over 2,000 feet lower than it is today because so much water was locked up in polar caps and glaciers.  Whether carbon dioxide is the cause of the current climate change, I don't know.  A lot of people can quote each other until their shared opinion becomes accepted as a fact.

  5. You should not believe global warming is real.

The fact is, the Earth naturally heats and cools as a cycle.

Clearly, the Earth is warming up.  No one can deny that.  However, it is not because of 'greenhouse gases.'  It is because of the natural cycle of the Earth's environment.  Al Gore and others took this opportunity to try and propagandize the United States.  There is no proof whatsoever that global warming is caused by man.

If you prefer facts, then you would believe that global warming is the natural heating and cooling of the Earth and has nothing to do with people.

  6. you should believe in it because what else would be causing all the ice caps melting...your mom,no the polution is burning the o zone allowing more of the suns rays and heat to the surface

  7. don't

  8. I think you should believe in global warming because you are an idiot.

Who cares if you believe in global warming?

What you should do is start making enough money to pay for place you live in - get a second job - instead of worrying about trying to have people persuade you into believing something that has already been proven. Do you think that Al Gore and the UN's Intergovernmental Panelgot won the noble peace prize for planting trees?

Do you need help on why you should believe that the Earth has a moon?

Global warming is fact. The question you should have posted was:

Global warming does exist... Why should I care?

  9. How about because the globe is warming?

    http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs...

If you mean man-made global warming, because the scientific evidence supports it:

    http://greenhome.huddler.com/wiki/global...

  10. Because greenhouse gases exist and it is proven.

Because we humans emit large quantities of greenhouse gases and it is proven and monitored.

Because greenhouse gases have a greenhouse effect and this is proven.

Because the logical result of an increase in greenhouse gases concentrations is an increase of global temperatures.

    ----------------

Because nobody can explain to my why an increase in greenhouse gases concentrations would not increase the global temperature

  11. chances are you'll waste less resources and save more money, so on the off chance that global warming is false then you are just helping out the environment, which you should be doing no matter what.

  12. All I can say is that the liberals who preach that I should change my whole lifestyle and buy different lightbulbs because of global warming are crazy.

Tell you what Al Gore and Bono the day you quit flying your jets and driving your huge tour busses around is the day I will change my life. If global warming is real buying carbon credits doesn't make up for your damage!

  13. Read:

The sky's not Falling by Hollie Fretwell.

It's a good book about global warming, exploring both sides of the argument with detail and ease of reading, and showing how some organisations twist the figures and decieve us.

Besides, we aren't 'producing' CO2, we are just releasing it from the trees and plants that absorbed it from the early atmosphere. A world with no pollution is a world with no productivity. Infact, if you really cared, you would stop breathing. Respiration in people and animals is by far the biggest maker of CO2.
