Our old water heater is about to go out and I've heard that tankless water heaters can save me money. Are there any other reasons I should make the switch?

Thanks!

  1. Gas tankless is good, saves me money on gas plus the $300 tax savings.  Initial cost is high but if you get a good brand with a good warranty the unit should save you overall.  Look for one that can go above 120F.  That's not just hot enough for me so I went with one that could go to 140 with an optional controller.  Good luck.

  2. I like the tankless water heater for their endless Hot water output.  Another is u can move it outside and attach it to the wall and occupy very little space.  Than u can clear out the closet for storage instead of the water tank there.

  3. We replaced a traditional water heater with a tankless and have already saved about 65% on our gas bill.  We have hot water on demand, and run as many as 5 showers in a row with everyone having HOT water.  It is crazy to not do it.  If

everyone in our country replaced the old with the new technology what a savings that would be.

  4. There's ups and downs to a tankless water heater.   The best selling feature is definitely it's virtually limitless supply of hot water.  Also you're not having to pay to heat water that is not in use.  It is especially nice to have if you're not using that much hot water (i.e. no kids, wash cloths on cold, ect).

Cost efficiency, it may cost you more if you utilize a lot of water during the day.  Also, the initial cost, to include installation, is considerably higher than the typical water tank.

If you do decide to go with the tankless water heater, do not go with an electric one.  I say this because they draw a very heavy electrical load when in use which will create a signifcant drop in voltage, temporarily.  (lights browing out, possible computer issues).  Best go with gas if at all possible.

  5. Tankless systems are expensive, so it may take quite some time to recoup your investment.   Modern standard water heaters get more efficient all the time, so thats a more logical choice if funds are limited.

  6. I've been thinking about it also.  For me, the strong selling point is the endless flow of hot water.  my current hot water tank is small (and due to wear out in a year or two) and there isn't quite enough hot water for two adults to shower.

  7. I read all the other answers you received, and they all sound like an advertisement from Paul Harvey. I have been repairing all sorts of water heaters, commercial, industrial, and residential for over 35 years. I can tell you this for sure. The money you save in energy for a tank less is wasted the first time you have a service call . These are not simple heaters compared to a standard water heater. I have a plain old standing pilot water heater in my house, and for 16 years it has worked without failure. Tough to beat . Take that Paul.

  8. Endless hot water is the biggest selling point among our cliental. They also allow you to regain some space, in your home. They last 2-3 longer than a tank type heater, when properly maintained. An average savings of 40% on gas usage. The key is to invest in a quality unit like Ranii or Norwitz. Return rate on the "toys" they sell in box store is over 50% because of the fact they are too small to deliver a satifactory amount of hot water. Our company installs 5-7 of these units per week, they are becoming extremely popular.

  9. a simple answer. They are far more efficient. "on demand" hot water heaters are the most efficient gas or electric heater. The cheapest way out of your situatiopn is to go for a direct replacement but storage heaters are so in efficient that they are now banned in new biuldings in some localities. Most domestic situations can only have gas "on demand" but you can get electric ones. However it is unlikely that you would have sufficient power available to operate one.

  10. Tankless water heaters save you money by eliminating the need to constantly heat a tank of water. Manufactures of these tankless water heaters say that you can save up to 30 percent on your bill. Also to help the upfront cost of the tankless hot water heater the US government is offering a 300 dollar rebate.

These devices also help conserve water by not wasting water while you are waiting to get hot water from a conventional tank heater.

Tankless hot water heaters also can last up to twice as long as standard tank heaters.

    Hope this helps...

  11. We have got the Rinnah instant gas heater at home it is great. Not sure on the savings compared to electricity but it definately is a great system.

Just make sure it is close to both your bathroom and your Kitchen otherwise you can waste cold water until the hot water comes thru...Pays to insulate your pipes as well

I think you can also supplement it with an underbench small system is the distant is going to be a problem ...not sure about this but.

    cheers
