Obviously it is the most common...but isnt it also universal? I realize O - is the true universal, but I have heard O+ CAN BE USED in every situation, provided the emergency is a true emergency...

  1. Why should we give blood?

i think this is frequently asked question by those ppl unwillin to give blood....nd escape with sum lame excuses like........... I don't have time. Donating blood can take less time than going to lunch or watching a TV program. In less than one hour, you can help save up to three lives.

    I'm afraid of needles.

Perhaps the greatest reward from donating blood is knowing your blood, part of who you are, lives on in those around you. So for those who are thinking of donating, understand you would truly be offering a most beautiful part of yourself for the benefit of those less fortunate. It is very easy to give blood today because of the new technology, it is a matter of minutes and it has been successfully done.

Persons with O Negative Type Blood can recieve the following types of blood:

    O Negative

O Negative type blood can be safely given to persons with blood types:

    O Positive

    O Negative

    A Positive

    A Negative

    B Positive

    B Negative

    AB Positive

    AB Negative

it is jus as same as O+ve

watever is the blood group....y do we bother....wen sumone needs it for their survival there is nothin wrong in givin it,,,,

  2. Type "O" cells are not affected by the naturally occurring anti-Aand Anti-B antibodies because they don't have the matching antigen. This means that "O" cells can be given to people of A, B, AB, and O blood types.

And in an emergency  defined as - "you are going to DIE if you don't get blood RIGHT NOW" - as long as the patient doesn't have anti-Rh antibodies already, O+ can be given. Blood banks would rather not do this, but if the doc signs the right paperwork we'll hand over the blood.

Also, 85% or so of the population is Rh+ ... O+ is useful for those people no matter what their A, B, or AB status.

  3. Donate because its a good thing to do and you could save someones life!

  4. o+ blood can be donated to any person without checkimg his blood group if the person is recieving it fr 1st time,

becoz u hav rh(rhesus) factor present in ur blood group; so in case the person receiving blood has any of the -blood grp

then his body might develop immunity against foreign bloo(i.e. urs blood)

if the recieving person is getting the blood for 1st time frm any +blood grp in his life then the immunity response will be weak

or if second or more time frm +bld grp

thn the recipient will surely die

    as his blood will clot

even if + blood is given to person having -blood grp then immunosuppressants r given to tackle the immunity

  5. Yes  O+ can donate to anybody. You have been blessed with this blood group.

  6. O Pos is the most common.  Actually most blood banks will give O neg blood in emergency cases where the the patient's blood type is unknown.  That way, it doesn't cause the patient to make an antibody that they do not need.  Or if the patient already has developed the Antibody, you could potentially prevent a major transfusion reaction.

But please donate.  Even though there are ALOT of people that already do, most areas are still in a shortage.
