  1. Do it because it's the right thing to do! I drive cars that run on natural gas (methane), which is better for the environment and a lot better for my wallet, too. Who cares what others do - you have no control over other people, whether they're rich or not. Just do things on your own and set an example.

  2. It's a matter of self respect and knowing you are doing your bit.

Yes it does get infuriating when these high flying non-entities use copious amounts of silly fuel but we keep on keeping on.  If we all gave up, then what?

    Keep the green faith.

  3. GOING "GREEN" is a scam by the leftists to make us all poor and suffer.  Just like the Great Global Warming Scam,  Notice they don't say that anymore since they know we are not warming....Now is the "Climate Change" or "Carbon Footprint" as the leftist code word for make us all poor and suffer.

  4. Just because the rich people are doing it doesn't make it a wise choice- If you are personally concerned enough about the earth and are able, why not do things to conserve it's resources? It's a personal choice- If you want to make certain changes, drive certain cars then you should do so.

Unfortunately, I don't think we will ever really have control over the wastefulness of other people. We should be aware yet balanced and not get pulled too deep into the "Going Green" movement, which many company's are making a lot of money off of. But then again take care of and respect the earth to the best of our ability.

  5. Why: Because it's the right thing to do. I have to live here, and I don't live here alone.

    When: Now.

The rich: It's moments like these I hate because I have to admit my momma was right about something. Two wrongs don't make a right. I can't control their behavior but I certainly have control over mine.

  6. Why not reduce the pollution you are putting into your life support system. The cost of energy is going to continue to go up, so conserving will save you money in the long run.

I personally think that it is a total cop out to say why should I do something when someone else isn't. We all need to take responsibility for our own actions and what they are doing to the planet. If you go totally green then you will consume less and some of those rich people won't be able to afford to fly their jets.

  7. Agree with the first answer. If we all think like that nothing would improve.

  8. No one can tell you to do something, they can just give you their opinion.  So that is what I am going to do.  I think people should go green to try to just give something back to the earth because we take so much from it.  It is the least we can do.  We need to start now because no one, not even the rich, know when we will run out of opportunities.  Here are some ideas I have about going green, and you can try some if you want:

~Of course, recycle everything you can! (Ex: cans, bottles, plastics, paper, ect.)

    ~Buy energy saving light bulbs

~Buy things like clothes, paper, ect that are made from recycled materials

~Use reusable batteries or recycle dead batteries properly

    ~Use reusable shopping bags

~If you have plastic shopping bags, use them instead of just tossing them. They can be used to pick up dog poo, line small trash cans, ect.

~Try not to use paper napkins or paper towel as much as possible. Instead use cloth napkins that can be washed.

~Try to use fewer paper plates and more washable ones.

    ~Take shorter showers

    ~Turn off lights whenever possible

~Try to buy more organic foods and local foods (for example, at a farmer's market)

    ~Use regular silverware, not plastic

~Use eco friendly products in replace of regular dish washing liquids, house cleaners, ect. (Greenworks)

~Use cold water to wash clothes (Tide Cold water works great)

~On a nice day, turn off the air/heat and open some windows. You save of the cost, get a nice fresh breeze, and help the environment.

~Plant trees around your house to shade and save on using more air conditioning

~Buy one stainless steel, reusable, water bottle instead of using regular plastic ones and then getting rid of them. This one you can clean and use over and over again!

~Change the setting on your sprinklers to use less water

~Buy eco friendly fertilizers (I think they have them at Home Depot)

~If painting, they have eco friendly paint at Home Depot

~Walk or ride a bike wherever possible

    ~Carpool if possible

That is all I can think of, but I hope you will try to adopt some of these things and try to get others to too!  Good luck!  :)

  9. but if we drive big cars does that mean we r bad people (my dad owns a cadillac dealership) cuz we still recycle and turn off lights and all that great stuff. but i guess some people r bad counting al gore who indeed does have private jets thatwaste alot of gas!

  10. Its not about what others are doing out there, it is about taking responsibility for your own actions and looking at the impact your actions have on other people, the planet and whether you are only using your fair share of resources and consumerism.

  11. Go green when you can save money. Go green when you can buy less oil from the Mideast. Otherwise this green stuff is c**p.

  12. Hi djave,

    Why you should go green when other people wouldn't care? Because Y O U   A R E    S M A R T.

It's certainly reasonable to say that humans are not the direct cause of the theory of global warming, but it is certain that we contribuite to the cause. For some, it is true of false all about this theory, however what we can't deny is that we pollute more than what our planet can sustain. If you want to make a change, don't be just be a spectator, do something about your concerns. Small things as recycling, picking up trash, saving water and others are a good start.

Why should you go green? Becase you CARE!

You don't need to say if you support one side or the other, but at least you can help into helping the bunch of people like you, or me or many more into sharing the belief that we have to take action and responsability of our behavior. If you want to be above the influence, just follow what you believe is right.

Now, I found something to help understand a bit more about it by Dan Martin from www.agua-luna.com:

"Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

    1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

    2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

    Melting ice sheets & glaciers

    Floods & droughts

    Great hurricanes & cyclones

    Seasonal extremes

    Seasonal phenomena’s

    Species extinction

    New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest."

I hope you can find all these useful and make it count!

  13. go green cos someday the whole world will be covered in a yellow fug =(

  14. Try to save money.

Example: in our housold we save approximately $8-10,000 per year.--and cut the carbon emissions from our various activities by about 60%.

    How?

    >using energy efficient technology, like CFLS

    >using and maintaining good insulation, weather stripping,e tc.

    >we have one car, not two--and use it for shopping, etc. We commute using public transportation (and have SHORTERcommuting time).

What have we "given up?" Virtually nothing--our living standard has improved considerably because we are no longer wasting money and energy. The recent price increases in gas haven't hurt us much--we've gone from about $40 to about $80/month since gas topped $2/gallon.

That--like it or not--is the price you pay for your obssioon with oil. In cold, hard cash.

  15. because you wouldn't want to leave your kids in any doubt that you at least tried to preserve the green and verdant world you knew.

But I feel short changed not by those who have the means to believe they are immune, but by successive powers that be that don't have the guts to take on the criminals deforesting the planet - this has been going on for decades and they've stuck their heads in the sand or worse turned a blind eye in exchange for a fat bribe.
