  1. They took a punt and lost, end of. Any other result sends a false message about Capitalism. There are about 150000 shareholders, but millions of taxpayers. So, naff all for the shareholders then, they are electorially insignificant.

  2. They should get NAFF ALL...... Some you win some you don't.....

    They LOST....

  3. Ethics says that they should be compensated in the same way as anyone else who has been the victim of someone else's incompetence verging on negligence.

    Does that answer your question?

  4. Not one penny. They took the divis when  everything was riding high, they also voted in the management of Northern Rock, who actually led it on to the "rocks" so no. It was a private bank so no rescue package should have been made.

I can only assume that the rescue package was made, because if there hadnt been a huge panic would have occurred in the banking industry and perhaps a collapse would have resulted, who knows.

So the inference is -  that people in Management who make absolute "ccock ups"  and the shareholders that vote for them, when things go wrong the taxpayer will bail them out!

How many other banks will have this treatment or companies in the future. Do we have capitalism or communism?

Mind u they are not the the only ones see link:-

  5. certainly none of taxpayers money ....they will have to wait and see if there are profits left after the government makes a bigger mess of the bank !!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. A penny sounds about right to me..

  7. They shouldn't, end of story.
