Why should U.S. provide military support for Israel if it attacks Iran first?

Wouldn't this make the U.S. look bad for allying itself with the aggressor?

Wouldn't this also demonstrate the power of the Iraeli lobbist group AIPAC?

For the same reason any country supports another - it furthers their interests. In the case of Israel, they need the support of the US before attacking - as any war burns through military equipment very quickly and Israel would need military airlifts of supplies within days. Any attack would also cause repercussions in Iraq and elsewhere, so the US would need to be prepared for an increase in violence.

Any raid  would then be launched only with prior and explicit approval, and would only get approval if it advanced American interests in the region or served another purpose.

First and strategically, weakening  Iraq has removed a military threat from Iran, and allowed its influence to grow in the oil heartlands. Overthrowing Iran's leaders, creating a civil war and making factions dependent on American troops, as has been done in Iraq would be hailed as a success by the US.This would put US troops on  top of most of the world's oil supplies.

Don't forget other reasons, such as revenge. Iran humiliated the US over the hostage crisis in the late seventies. The US is not a nation which forgives and forgets.

Israel would only attack Iran if it knew that the US would back it up which is why the US  should make it clear to Israel they cannot rely on the support of the US if they are the aggressors

I have been saying exactly the same thing on here for a long time. If America told Israel to stop its land grab policy in Palestine then Iran would not have the felt need to to step in to make it a more even fight, but America will never stop supporting Israel, whatever they do, due to the strong Israeli lobby.

Because Iran needs to be taken care of, and Israel will do a better job..

And if they don't, we will have to..  They have said many times publicly that first Israel then the big satan (USA)

It is better at this time if Israel does it and we just back them up, or we can trade nuclear bombs with them..

Israel, unlike the US, is intelligent enough to know that it would be wrong to provoke any form of military action -- a small attack or something that leads to a larger conflict.
