  1. As is my understanding WA has wanted to secede from the rest of Australia since well before federation. I believe they wanted to form their own government due to the fact that %95 of Australians and Australia's interest's were on the east coast. Fair enough i suppose......

  2. I don't know much about this, but, i say that WA should'nt secede from Austrailia, cuz AUS. is a prosperous, democratic nation and is better left united. Unless, of course, WA wanted to join to United States, then that would be great. More land for the USA...awesome

  3. Why should the rest of Australia care if they did?

PS - You should post this in the "Travel - Australia" section if you want more answers.

  4. Because the big business interests have a lot of money and don't want to pay taxes and share it with the rest of the country! haha, this is such an oooold argument. It'll never happen. But if enough rich white South Africans keep moving to WA then the idea will probably keep floating about in their popular opinion. Exiled rich people desire power restored to them.

(I was so shocked when i lived for a little while in Perth at how many people I was introduced to looked at me funny and said "Oh, so you're an Easterner". What? I had a hard time getting a job there because I was a suspicious immigrant.... from Sydney, Australia. lol)

    Edit-

The Australian government won't let WA go - mining minerals $$$$!!! :)
