    Because it must be studied throughly so that it could be tested if it is "presented fairly."

    And somehow an auditor could make an "opinion" on the audited sheet, whether it's an "unqualified," "qualified," opinion.


  2. Balance sheets are tallied to make sure that your assets = your liabilities and capital. If they don't then your accounts have a serious problem.

    And to make accountants like me feel important because we can get them to tally!
