Why should everyone not only farmers be concerned of soil conservation?

Hi Wizard21,

Everyone should be concerned with soil conservation because the conservation of soils affects more than just farmers.

Soil conservation is critical to the management of forests and to the health of watersheds and marshes, which are home to many varieties of life that we depend upon.

Soil conservation is also critical to the quality of our water, both the water we drink and the water that we swim, fish and use for other purposes.

If we do not take care to conserve the soil we have, it will erode away and we will loose the nutrient-rich soils that have taken millions of years to develop.  It is like a "domino effect", where if the soil is lost, we will lose our plants that depend upon that soil and then, we will lose all of our wildlife that depend upon those plants.
